I'm having the same problem too, but not only Sparrows, Starlings as well, and they seem to be after a lot of different herbs.........ooh! I bet their nests smell nice. I'm wondering, do you think they do it to control any pests, or am I thinking! just a bit too much. :giggle:

Marg I do wonder if they use the herbs for that reason :yes: or as Jan says to make the nest smell nice :grin:

paula i have half the scottish population of sparrows in my garden i think lol
yes double h maybe they are shy, i am able to make out 4 eggs in one of the nests, the other is totally obscured so will need to wait till they hatch and hear the chicks.

cheers graham, there will be many more soon once all the eggs hatch out. i probably have about a dozen nests at least in the garden. they nest in my boxes, hedge, garage roof and eaves of house under the slates.

thanks guys. there is a bit of history between the osprey and the greylag geese. a couple of years ago the ospreys returned from africa to find a pair of the geese had taken over there nest, the ospreys won it back eventually. yesterday the female was randomly dive bombing the geese, like a wee game when she was bored lol. here she is behaving herself
