Has anyone seen or heard anything yet of young fledglings or nestlings. I have. I heard the clear sound of a baby blue tit/great tit. And it was in a laurel tree next door. I rushed to the end of the garden but couldn't see it. :panic: Where are the cats I thought. Is my cat indoors or out! Anyway I haven't heard it since. Perhaps it was the first out. Baby blue tits seem to be the first don't they? And have survived this cold weather! Just wondered if any one else has seen or heard anything. Exciting when that happens. I know the blackbird and robin are nesting because of the flying to and fro of feeding. haven't any interesting photos yet but hope to soon.

No sign of any fledglings here yet, the Blackbirds are still collecting nesting material

Nothing here Helen although I did have a broken egg in the garden last week and like Julie I still have Starlings collecting nesting materials

Not sure whose egg it was though

No sign of anything here at the moment. I have no idea what your egg would have belonged to Happy Hare.
I suppose a magpie or crow got at it.

I'm trying to work out if there is a hint of mottling on both those pale blue eggs Happyhare and Paula. Blackbirds lay pale blue eggs, sometimes with heavy brown mottling and sometimes they can be almost devoid of any markings. What sort of size would you say the shells were?

No sign of fledglings here either.

I was going to say blackbird for the egg shells too :cool3:

 I thought they were Blackbirds too, mine had hardly any markings on at all just a a couple of pale brown speckles and about the same size as Happyhares

That would seem to confirm them as Blackbird eggs :cool2:

I don't think we have a thread for this but I thought it would be nice if we could put all our fledglings on here for all to see

Only the one from me at the moment from down the bottom of the garden

A lovely capture Paula. :cool3:

I haven't seen any fledglings yet, plenty of different birds taking food away first thing in the morning though, so I wait in anticipation.

:clap4: aww! Lovely Paula. I haven't seen any yet but by the amount of cheeping going on in the nests around here it won't be long!

Lovely thread! :clap4:

I think we've had a fledgling robin in the garden - we had two adults at the feeder and one that had no discernible tail (it looked like a brown and red golf ball!), and they were all tolerating each other quite happily, so we imagine it was a family.

Unfortunately they soon bring the raptors around. But they do look nice.

Don't know if it's too late too respond to this now, being late into May, but my friendly robin has been showing up with a fledgling for the last couple of weeks.

At first, he was gathering suet pellets from me and flying off with them in his beak, only to return a minute or two later to do the same again, but now a fledgling has started showing up with him quite a lot. It's breast is still yellow and black flecked, not red yet.
