Lovely photos of the Dunnock Julie .

I wonder if the parents of the Greenfinch were around keeping an eye on it John.

No sign of any other birds about ,Jan and all it did was fly about 5/10 yards up the path and land again.it took it about 200 yards to work out that it would be ok if it just headed for cover off the path !as you say ,Laurie ,not learned to fear humans yet☹

Brilliant shots of the Dunnock, Julie.

Certainly looks like a juv Greenfinch and they do tend to have a distinct lack of fear when it comes to humans, our Dunnock's are the same and quite approachable.

Last year at about this time I posted a few pics of the Tawny Owl chicks in my local reserve, yesterday I went to watch this years youngsters being ringed and checked, they may or may not have been related to last years lot but probably were !

this is the new box ( the old one fell apart )

Posted Image

there were 3 chicks, one was a bit of a runt but doing well and should survive

Posted Image

these are the larger two

Posted Image

this one's a bit laid back

Posted Image

it's surprising how docile they are , no noise/struggling trying to bite etc just very calm, also their feathers/down was extremely soft !

thanks for looking
