A tale of two birds
while trying to get a pic of a Kingfisher in poor light the following drama unfolded

The Kingfisher looking for his supper

Posted Image

then a sudden commotion from the Moorhens and this Sparrowhawk came hurtling over the dead tree and the Kingfisher departed n a hurry followed closely by the Hawk
Posted Image

in this pic the Hawk is just coming
from behind the dead tree at the top right( you can just see his face )

Posted Image

those eyes

Posted Image

and finally a happy ending-the Kingfisher escaped

Posted Image

incredibly ten mins or so later the Kingfisher returned and once again was pursued by the Hawk and once again escaped !

Well I was pretty impressed with the Stonechat and then I saw the adventure unfold on the next sequence of photos...what are the chances of getting a good shot of a Kingfisher, let alone the pursuit :wow:

I'm not sure whether we have Black Redstart on the bird challenge Andy, but if not, you can certainly add yours.
