THE POWER OF THE MUTE SWAN
A pair of resident Mute Swans on a lake in Pwllheli (Llyen Peninsula) . Also on the lake are two single Swans maybe last years young, whatever they are they are certainly not welcomed anywhere near the pair. I watch from the far end of the lake the ferocity of the cob and how quickly it seemed to run across the water with wings outstretched to attack or simply chase away one of the single swans.
I caught the attack on camera, the speed of the chase was amazing. The power of the cobs wings filled the air, the beating of the water made the single swan retreat, just.

:wow2: well done for capturing the action Alice. Superly photographed. For such a large bird they can't half shift when they want to!

I have just looked at the whole thread and your photos are wonderful! I particularly like the birds 'posed' by red berries and the robin in the bird bath.

:greatpic: Alice. Definitely one swan not to mess with. Very formidible with his wings outstretched. I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of him.

I took myself off to Caernarvon and went along the Menai Straits where the wind was freezing. The tide was going out and there were a lot of birds and geese about.
Brent Geese, Red Shanks, Oystercatchers, Curlews and many Gulls. Also a Little Egret.
Interesting to see rings on one of the Brent Geese, I'll try and find out a bit about the rings and where it was ringed.
