I've never seen Rock Pipits there but have seen them at Abersoch.

To-day I had a phone call from a friend saying she had a Jack Snipe on her lawn and I managed in the poor light to get a few photos but I understand from a few birders in North Wales that it is indeed a Woodcock. Not the bird expected to see on a lawn, the grass was soft enough for it to get its beak right down and was feeding on worms. A great first for me and the lady. From the RSPB site it is indeed a Woodcock.

This Spring has been the best ever regarding bird sightings, Common Snipe in the flooded fields, another Barn Owl caught that in Ellesmere in Shropshire. Garden birds, Goldfinches in particular dozens of them, this week two pairs Redpoll and to-day 3 male Blackcaps and two stinning male Redpolls. I don't know where their coming from.

:greatpic: Alice. I have never seen a woodcock. Great sightings of the blackcap, owl and redpoll. :jealous:

Out of interest are you referring to the Lakes at Ellesmere, a friend of mine goes there sometimes.

Yes, Tabatha that is the one right in the heart of the town of Ellesmere. Lovely place for a family outing, I have family there.
