Never seen one of those before, what a lovely bird :) Why Purple though? Is it because of the beak? (do excuse my ignorance :giggle: )

Jane I think it's because the slate grey feathers are supposed to have a purplish tint...........you probably need a good light :bins:

Thanks everyone.

Paula is spot on Jane and it is the adults that have this purplish tinge to the feathering, especially in the right light. Mine was a juvenile so it isn't as obvious in it's feathers.
