:hello1: Shaz,

Some good shots there I like the pheasant and the first mallard shot :welldone: . I love it when you can get a decent shot of a bird in flight as it really shows the wing detail.

I look forward to your shots from Hickling :cool1:

:thanx: everyone .. it is a tough challenge.. but I'm like that on myself :lol2: but I have always wanted to get some birds in flight photos.. and now I have a decent camera to attempt this with I will stick at it.
I do feel its more luck than judgement mind .. :D so any useful tips from you more experienced photographers in our midst .. will be more than welcome.
For instance... I like the last one because the background is blurred and the Mallards are sharp .. how did I do that

OK .. off to practice a bit more

:wow2: well done Shaz, some fantastic shots there. :clap5:

They're all brilliant but my favourite one is the first photo of the Lapwing. :cool2:

You'll probly find it a lot easier with the Canon as SLR's respond much quicker...well that's what I found.

I had to :cwl: at your question about how you got the Mallards so sharp in that last photo. That's the sort of questions I ask myself for some photos that I've taken..... that was good, but how did I do it, and can!! I do that again.  :giggle:

Looking forward to your photos from today, you've set yourself a brilliant challenge.

:wow: Lovely photos Shaz. Well done catching all those birds in the air. I think my favourite is the last one too. I like the way they seem to be flying together.

:girlygiggle: If you work out how you did it, perhaps you could let us know.

:thanks: for posting

Look forward to seeing the results of your visit to Hickling.

Large appature and long lens. You used a 300mm lens with an f5.6 appature. This gives good 'Bokeh' or background blurr.
Have a look here ...............

..........or Google 'bokeh' !

:thanx: everyone for your lovely comments .. and many thanks for that link Keith .. my new fav word is Bokeh  I love it .. and .. have been managing to achieve it as well not in these photos but in the ones that will be on my Yonder Hill thread :yay:

Whilst on holiday last week at Judy's I managed to capture some birds in flight again .. and only had to open the door to the caravan and right above me was this magnificient Buzzard .. the light was bright so I have had to compensate with contrast etc ..
