Thanks for the link Tabatha. They're beautiful birds. I've managed to see a kingfisher a couple of times. They're so quick, blink your eyes and you'd miss them, unless of course they're sitting on a branch. |

In a previous life I used to live near the river Wear and, although I never managed a photograph, we used to have 4 kingfishers and once I saw (through binoculars) all 4 sitting together. Was with (step) daughter at time and her comment was ' they look exactly the same as they do in the book!' Usually I would hear them call before they flashed by. Those photos in the link are fabulous, thanks for posting. |

for the link Danny. I see no harm in banning those substances, hopefully it will help the bee populations around the world.

I'm glad we have a two year reprieve there's a lot of evidence to support that it gets into the ground and harms the mammal population too

A baby puffin hatches from an egg in these night vision shots taken on the Farne Islands off the coast of Northumberland. The adult puffin lays an egg and then the footage fast-forwards to the chick emerging. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/video/2013/jul/04/puffin-hatches-on-the-farne-islands-video |

That is a great idea and we have done similar things whilst we have been on birdwatching trips. Sleeping in a car for a week or more, we used to stop over at many reserve car parks, taking in moth trapping and owl and bat walks. Thanks for the link Danny. |

Despite his ill health this is no excuse for such an appalling crime and he should have received an immediate custodial sentence...this is justice and he has escaped scott-free really. Thanks for the link Danny. |

for the link Danny. Unfortunately that sentence was no deterrent. He acted in a callous way and deserved a much harsher punishment.
