Very sad indeed Danny. I'm sure we have enough sizeable airports in the south to cope with the increase in air travel, and if not..well....people should have to wait and be patient.

The discovery of Nomada robertjeotiana is a hugely significant find Danny and is a real indicator of the health in terms of flora and fauna at this particular site.

That could have been far worse John and thankfully they were able to rescue the deer. Nice to have a happy ending.

Another sad story about a raptor this time the rare Montagu's Harrier

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-29240741

Ornithologists fear "something catastrophic" has happened to an "extremely rare" bird of prey after its satellite tag stopped transmitting.

The Montagu's harrier is one of only seven breeding pairs in England and is legally protected.

That is terrible news Jan and for it to happen to such a rare breeding bird is even worse. Lets hope that they can somehow find out exactly what has taken place.

Thanks for the link Jan.

A slightly worrying butterfly count report, Danny. The real worry was the huge drop in Pieris sp (Large, Small and GV White) these are amongst our staple and most recognised butterfly species and a drop within this genus is a bad sign.

Tell me about it, for several of our most common species to be in great danger of great decline is not encouraging. I've been noticing big changes in population almost every year for the past five or so years. :notfair:

Considering the number of illegal shooting of birds of prey in this country that's appeared in the news recently, I tend to agree. :notfair: :soapbox:

Foul play for sure in my opinion, sad to think that way in the first place but no wonder really.

That gamekeeper wants stringing up Danny...absolutely shocking news and hopefully when he is sentenced in November, the authorities will make an example of him.

I have never heard of that fish before Danny but great news to hear that it is making some kind of a comeback.
