That's great news Danny and really encouraging to hear that they are expanding their range from their usual Devon haunts.

We'll believe it when we see it , Dave :yep: .. they do a lot of talking :rolleys:

Good news , Danny .... let's hope the land is not in the local NHS hands as was the case in Devon when it was promptly grubbed up .... perhaps the Buntings flew over the border

They may well have done Jen. We certainly wouldn't be in this situation if it wasn't for the dramatic loss of farmland habitat.

Yep that's fine now ,, thanks John .. Good to know the cleanliness of the bird table is flagged up as a reminder . Those poor birds suffered quite badly .. beautiful bird the greenfinch ... i don't see very many down here : (

The other link mentions the numbers being stable along the Firth .. but i'd be a bit worried ... the numbers are dropping : ( i wonder why ? no fish ? boats worrying them ?

Thanks for those links John.

The cleanliness of a bird table and feeders is of paramount importance and clean feeding equipment will help stop the spread of nasty diseases.

This is the problem with housing exotic species in the UK and there are no end of escapees, especially birds, across many parts of the UK and is an undoubted problem, especially where cross-breeding of very similar species takes place.

:thanks: for the link ... Danny .. i saw that on the local news .. seems a mystery :nope:

 Dave ..... I'm always so cynical these days . We know why the numbers are low and we know what can be done to prevent this . It just needs farmers and others to recognise this not to write yet another paper and hold more meetings .

Intensive farming has always been the problem ... but there are vested interests :yep: We need a fairer means of distribution ... not to grow and throw more away

Totally agree Jen. This is why the RSPB's project at Hope Farm was integral in demonstrating that increased biodiversity can be integrated into the running of a standard arable farm and farming methods etc.
