Very interesting Danny and i think this quote sums the report up quite nicely.

"The way that divers and anglers relate to these places goes much deeper than just recreation. It an experience that is important on so many levels: physical health, stress relief, engagement and connection with nature, beauty, a sense of wonder. It is these profound bonds that makes divers and anglers very concerned about the future of these special places."

That is a great boost for the DWT Danny and lets hope it is all put to good use.

That is a great clip of the Puffins Danny :cool2:

Very worrying and hopefully they will be able to stop the spread.

Thanks for all the links Danny and i'll start with the new fly species found.

This is a remarkable find although i'm not sure a welcome one, considering it's parasoidal purpose to develop inside the pupae of a ladybird thus killing the ladybird in the process. Not good news considering the state of UK ladybirds at the present time.

Wonderful experience Mick.

As for the Turtle dove population, i used to see quite a number of these on our bird watching trips to Norfolk in the 90's but in the last few years, and we have been visiting the same sites regularly, i have only see three individual birds...very concerning indeed.

Thanks for all the links Danny.

I'll start with the one on butterflies:

I think the real problem is with those species that are still showing a downward trend, Wall Brown, Small Heath and Duke of Burgundy are of real concern as there is only so much more decline that they can suffer before they become in serious danger of extinction in the UK.

Slightly closer to home regarding the nature reserve in Nottinghamshire and i do hope that the money is raised for the Skylarks Nature Reserve. It does look like a site with huge potential for the future.
