It's down at the end of the garden , Dave .. in a bed of willows and birch , yellow flag iris and caltha's .. it's also a swamp at this time of the year .. see all the lichen  there are also a lot of brambles there but i don't want to clear it too much

Growing on an old tree stump in a river. About 6 ins across. I was wondering about Trametes suaveolens with a bit of green fungal growth. Obviously, due to the location, I wasn't able to obtain any more information.

Possibly Geoff.

It would be a great find if so with it being a red data species. One way to tell would be to see, when bruised, if the pore surface turns brown but considering the location that will probably be out of the question.

Is there no access whatsoever Geoff or is the river too deep? the green fungal growth could also point to it being Trametes suaveolens and would obviously be a tremendous record.

Not overly deep but around 4 ft at the moment and flowing rather quickly.

Less than 6 ft from the bank; but without scaffolding . . . :fingersx:

I might send it to the County Recorder and see if they have any thoughts.

:woot: i Googled it , Dave as i couldn't find it in one of the small books . I could see what i thought must be a stem and sure enough one of the pics on the link shows a stem the same ... exciting isn't it

Very!

It does look indeed like Gyromitra esculenta (False Morel) Jen, a very good find indeed. It could also go on the Fungi Photography Challenge.

The second photo would probably be the best one Jen.

You can use IMGUR if you like Jen, just one photo on that thread won't slow anything down.

:( i couldn't post it , Dave . it wouldn't go through ... it took forever whilst trying to upload and so i gave up

I can't work out how to use Picasa .. some of my photos are there but the recent ones aren't and i can't see how i get them there . I think i'm beyond it all now

Have you tried using the attachments facility Jen? you will see this when you click on the full reply screen, just under where the IMGUR uploader is.

I clicked on , Choose Files ... which is alongside , You can attach files up to 200 KB . My photos appeared as with the Imgur option . I chose the fungi pics and uploaded the first . This is the massage on the screen :/

You have not entered any post content.P3300194.JPG with size 1.41 MB exceeded the file size limit of 200 KB.

I'll keep trying , Dave .. but i don't really know what i'm doing :bag:

Please would you give me a link to the Photo testing thread

Hi Jen.

Try IMGUR again because the file size is too large for attachments. It's probably why IMGUR was taking a while to upload it because of the size of the file/photo.

See what happens when you try IMGUR again, Jen.
