Hi Jen.

It looks like it could be either a variation on Turkey-tail or possibly a Stereum type, i'll look into it.

Ah thank you Dave . I'd been searching but became confused as to the stage . For now just that it's a fungi will be handy for the Winter Challenge ;)

A bonus Jen! Julie had a look on our garden for fungi yesterday but nothing to be seen.

Aww , i'll send Julie a starter pack :ha: . That particular one wasn't in the garden but i've certainly found a variety over the last year .

What isn't a bonus is that the snow happened about a week before the 1st of December :impatient:

Geoff,

Post 2381 has come back from the fungi expert as a very aged Armillaria mellea. That through me completely and i never even considered this as a possibility but i trust Nick's expertise implicitly.

Yes, Dave, that is certainly something which I hadn't considered. Thanks for finding out.

Probably too late to find any more this year but I will keep a look out for this next autumn. There were definitely Armillaria in that general area.

I'm not good at encrusting types but I guess at Byssomerulius corium - possibly.

Hi Geoff.

Could well be. Do you know if it was growing on Ash?

There are patches of Ash in the wood but I'm not sure about that particular dead branch.

Love fungi, shooting is is fun can be muddy but that's part of the fun.

It's a love hate relationship here, can shoot them but naming is another matter, on many websites i will see what looks like the one but isn't, so all I can do is just put info to come.

Got a few I know but many I don,t you welcome to look through mine, try and help each other I guess.
