It is always useful to know if I'm getting any better at identification, Dave, or if I still have so much more to learn. |

It will need microscopic examination to be sure, Katey. |

Anthea and I were walking with friends in Essex in November 20012. I have just unearthed two photos of fungi growing by the wayside. I am sure they must be fairy common but I don't know what they are.![]() ![]() |

Hi Eric. Would need to see the stems and possibly gills to be sure but they are likely to be a Macrolepiota type with M. procera or M. rhacodes being two likely candidates. |

Post 2412, the encrusting type Geoff cannot be done from the photo alone according to Nick. |

Thanks for that, Dave, I will mark it as unidentified. Most encrusting types seem to be tricky don't they. |

Hi Brian. They all look like very washed out Laccaria laccata (The Deceiver). Stems and gills fit fine. |

These are the encrusting types from Saturday. Possibly the early non fruiting stage of Stereum hirsutum? ![]() Last autumn I failed to achieve a certain identification for this green fungus. Later in the year the lumps erupt into small individual crater like areas.

I suspect the green one will remain unidentified but it would certainly be interesting to have another opinion; even if it is just a few rough suggestions. |

Not sure about this one.![]() ![]() Is it an encrusting form with a curled over top edge or a deep thin bracket? Tried a few times for an ID but can't quite get a match whichever way I go with the keys. |

Very interesting one Geoff, i'll take a closer look. Do you know what type of tree it was growing on Geoff? |
