Sorry to hear you've had no phone or internet, Hazel. I'm glad you're back with us now. Dave is away at the moment with very little internet signal himself. I've had a look at the challenge and it looks as though your Clavulinopsis corniculata photo would still be very much appreciated but if you're happy to wait until Dave can respond, I'm sure he'll confirm. |

I have today found a number of these growing in what I laughingly call my lawn As you can see, lots of clover and moss. Our soil is London Clay and the "lawn" is often very wet - poor drainage. The white lid is 3.5cms in diameter to give an idea of size. To my eye the fungi has a pinky look about it and the stipe is the same colour. I tried to snap the stipe but it was very firm and wouldn't break cleanly. They have a very mushroomy aroma. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My first thought Grayling was Marasmius oreades but something doesn't quite fit, maybe the stipe colour looks slightly out. I'll consult further. |

Many thanks for that suggestion Dave. I've now looked it up and they could well be that.

A few outstanding id's to catch up. Some of these maybe eligible for the fungi photo challenge but you'll just need to check the updated list. HI Dave I am a bit behind with my fungi having had no phone line for 2 weeks and then again for 3 days last week so I have got quite a few for id but I will do them slowly a few at a time. This first batch were taken in Silloth, Cumbria in September. They were in some stands of fir trees along the water front there so possibly sandy soil underneath. Hi Hazel. 1. Russula ochroleuca - Ochre Brittlegill 2. Leratiomyces ceres - Redlead Roundhead 3. Lepiota cristata - Stinking Dapperling 4 and 5 are both Russula types and i need to take a closer look at them. Lepiota cristata - Stinking Dapperling could go on the fungi photo challenge. |

This tiny fungus was growing on wood amongst moss. Is it Beech Jellydisc or similar? Thanks for looking :pumpkin: ![]() |
