Dave, no luck with that fungus today, it had all gone. Mum says we had seen it there before though so I will keep checking. She wondered if you were able to give an ID on this one, please?

Oh i see what you mean Dave ... it certainly looks more like it than a turkey tail

I wonder if it's good enough for the Challenge

The trio on the left of the photo are all a Lactarius sp Gary.

Paula could well be right with Tricholomopsis rutilans but i'm not 100% sure because they are quite faded in parts, especially so the gills.

When was the photo taken Gary?

Hi Dave, Apologies but I'm really not sure. I can only go by the date on the shot itself which looks to be December 2012. Does this help at all?

Thanks anyway Gary. To be honest, i think that a spore print and close-up shots of the gills would be needed in any event, fungi is very tricky subject to confidently id unless certain supporting evidence is available. Some, on the other hand such as Fly agaric, need no supporting evidence.

No worries, was an older shot I dug out. Was just curious! Appreciate you looking and thanks for info on the trio!

No problem. You will find that fungi is a fascinating subject and such a diverse group.

I wonder if this is the pink stage of Hypoxylon fragiforme? Quite small in size.

And could this group of little fungi be Scutellinia scutellata?

Maybe a little early though?
