:thanx:
Dave the second one I think (though not sure) was either dead or dying as it was chalky and loads on the floor broken up.
I didnt actually touch it so could be wrong.
There was a steep incline to the ground and I didnt fancy going there !!

Sounds like decay Carl and that might prove to be unidentifiable.

Not too sure what this is.

Could be fungi or eggs.

Well captured Carl :clap3:

Not sure of any fungi that looks like that so it may be some kind of egg cluster....i'll check for fungi first.

Sorry DJan. ....... not Jews Ear. It is one of the Cup fungi. I would say it could be Helvella acetabulum but can't say for sure without a lot more detail.

 Thanks Judy.

I have looked the cups in Roger's Mushrooms and I think they are Peziza cerea as the habitat is on rotting sand bags and that is where they are! So that was very helpful

Well done Jan, the habitat with those cup fungi is often very specific.

Yours Gill looks like a Coprinus type but can't narrow it down further at the moment.

The first one of yours Carl could be a Sparassis sp and the second one looks like Piptoporus betulinus.

:thankyou: Dave. If it is any help ... it was big. The cap was at least 2 inches in diameter and 3 inches high (that height doesn't include the stem which was about the same height again).
