 Paul, When you have a lot of brackets like that stacked up on top of each other it is difficult to see the upper surface of them and it is best to get a view of the topmost one in the tier. The white new growth between the two brackets in that photo obscures the upper surface of the lower one.

I think this one is a Chanterelle (Cantharellus cibarius) rather than the similar False Chanterelle (Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca). Am I correct, please?

Edit: The actual colour of the plant was yellower than my picture might lead you to believe.

Stood about 5 inches high, about 1 and 1/2 inches in diameter was in bare mud, singular and small groups, the bare mud was a dug over flower bed, if this has any bearing

These were growing under Conifer and Yew, the stem was only about 1and 1/2 inches but the cap was about 3 to 3 and 1/2 inches in diameter, although not very discernable from the pics, the cap is quite olive in colour and has a waxy/rubbery texture to it

Is that a volval sac at the base of the stem Paul or a stem ring that is free and slipped down the stem?

 I'm having a blank moment -
Tan cap, suede skin. 12cm diam.
Pores yellow, blueing on bruising. some reddening on stem but mostly removed by slug damage I think.

I thought I'd remember the measurements but I'm hopeless
