Thanks Dave for those identifications but could I trouble you to identify some more for me. The first one I couldn't get any closer to or even at a different angle to get another shot.

The next 2 are the same fungi, just topside and underside.

The next 2 were growing on the same tree about 6 inches apart.

The next one I wondered if it my be hoof fungus but as it was in such a small niche it was difficult to be certain.

Thanks for your help. Hazel

:yay: fungi season again

Dave - do you think number 1 of Hazel's pics in post #781 is a new beefsteak fungus just developing?

Does remind me of a tree sticking its tongue out :p

Could someone tell me what this fungi is please? I'm imagining the first is a younger version of the second.

I couldn't get up close to it to check the gills or anything as it was in a flowebed at Wisley and thought better of trampling through :lol2:

I went for a walk this morning in one of the small local parks and found the following fungi, please could you identify them for me.

The first 2 I think were the same fungus just the second picture is of a younger specimen.

The next 2 are the same fungi just a top and underside view.

The next 2 are the same fungi altogether there were 4 pieces round the top edge of a tree stump.

This last one was just flat to the ground and at first I didn't think it was a fungus but then I touched it and realised it was a living thing although I could not lift it out of the ground.

Number 2 Hazel could be the very early stages of Meripilus giganteus but hard to tell for sure.

Number 4 could possibly be Chicken of the woods in one of it's many different forms

Number 9 is either Xylaria longipes or Xylaria polymorpha.

Number 10 is a Coprinus sp

Number 11 is possibly a Lycoperdon sp
