That's ok Jen...no problem at all. Great find Grayling and it could be an early forming Common earthball. |

Grayling ....... i'm just thinking When i was on that walk ... i saw about four , what i thought might have been puff balls but they weren't fixed to the ground and all had a ? dent on the skin I should have photographed them ... snake egg shells just crossed my mind but they were in the open . I must look for them next time i go

Yours Jen could be Suillus bovinus and they tend to crack on the cap when old. |

Certainly looks like a Marasmius sp Carl. I'll double check my guides when we get back. |

Apologies for not having taken these properly with easy identification in mind............no gills or sizing All located in the woods in the grassy areas which are prone to staying quite damp |

The last one looks like the early forming of Cortinarius paleaceus. The first looks like a Boletus sp Paula and the second one a Stereum type. I'll get my guides out and check all three. |

The first one could be Suillus bovinus, Paula but would probably need to see the tubes /pores to be sure. |

Is it possible to ID this fungi? Relatively sandy soil, mainly Alder trees - Dorset. ![]()
