It does appear to be highly variable as well Grayling, especially the colouration of the cap when young. |

Thanks Dave I wonder if Happyhare might be visiting there soon, if so it is on the left hand side of the path leading down to the Goosander Hide No Challenge points but it would be interesting to see it a bit more advanced

Tricky to say for sure without seeing the stem in detail but my first thought is Macrolepiota rachodes (Shaggy Parasol) |

thank you very much ,Dave ... i had three photos and i'm sure the other ( which i deleted ) had some of the stem .When i Googled the shaggy parasole , it shows at first something i hadn't seen .. but further down and from Images i see it's that one . I then looked up further ID Spores .. green or white It's so difficult and something which'll take a month of Sunday's to get to grips with I should have started years ago http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spore_print Meanwhile .. just sorting others .. as they might just do for the Photo Challenge

Are these photos of orange peel fungi? I wasn't sure because of where they were growing as the books always say in stony paths. I found 2 lots both of which were growing among the exposed root system of field maple trees.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Agreed on Orange Peel, Hazel. They primarily grow on soil substrate so a path with a soil base is a good spot for them. Looks good for Iodine Bonnet to me Grayling. Not sure on the last one yet but i would say a Psathyrella type. |
