We had a pair of Nuthatches in our old place as we were near a wood but nothing could shift them off the feeders if they did try the Nuthatches would fly at them like mini exocet missiles.

Alan i think its the huge numbers of house sparrows that make him go.
I have a pair of Nuthatch but dont always see them at the same time.
I agree the Nuthatch are not faint hearted he hangs on for a bit but
just gives up i have at least 30 sparrows the most i have ever had..
I have a regular GS Woodpecker but hes on the feeders at the crack of dawn.
So isnt disturbed by them.

They are so funny i had some chasing a bouncy ball around the patio. :lol2:
When they are all in the elderberry tree it looks like a scene from the ''Birds''
I get a Sparrowhawk from time to time a beautiful bird,he'll be back no doubt.
