Great photos, I love that Pigeon. Those small ducks may well be Call Ducks, they're well known for having a loud quack.

:thankyou2: everyone for your kind comments!

Ann, I've just looked up Call Ducks, and I think you could well be right - goodness they could make some noise!

Yes, it really is! As well as the ducks we saw a little grebe and a merlin, although not close enough for any photos.

years back , in the camcorder days , I stood over a pair of Starlings as they battled , feet locked together ,in my back garden . it must've been two rival males ...they ignored me and it was only when they were exhausted and took a break that they realised how close I was and flew off ! I only wish I could find that old tape to have another look :groan:

Thankyou for all the nice comments!

I can't help feeling that if they'd just share the food they'd all get a lot more...

John, if you ever do find that tape, I'd love to see it as well. They just become oblivious to everything, don't they? The only bird I've ever run over was a sparrow who chased a rival out of a bush in front of my car. The one being chased just made it, the aggressor didn't.

It's always horrible when you hit a bird in a car Sarah, doesn't matter how many times you see it happen it always makes you feel bad, even though there is nothing that can be done about it.
