Thankyou all, so much!

We had a lovely holiday in Cornwall, although we packed so much in I think we need another holiday to recover! :o I don't have many bird photos to share, as my photographic skills (such as they are) seemed to desert me completely for the week - does anybody else have times like that?! - but we were lucky enough to see these two at Hayle RSPB reserve.

Little egret:-

Spoonbill:-

The egret seemed to be sticking very close to the spoonbill, and seemed to be making the most of food that the spoonbill stirred up from the bottom!

Ooh, and I nearly forgot about Mr Robin! We visited The Lost Gardens of Heligan (wonderful place!), and I was sitting on a bench waiting for the other half. I could hear a robin singing nearby, and kept turning to see where it was - eventually I spotted him perched on the back of the bench I was sitting on, so close I could have reached out and touched him, and he was singing away so quietly, as though what he had to say was strictly confidential between him and me! I had nothing for him, but a very nice lady came along, the three of us had a chat, then she produced some homemade shortbread from her bag for him, which he gathered up and took home with him.

:thankyou2: Paula! He was really sweet, and so confiding - I'm sure if I'd had some crumbs or seed for him he'd have taken them from my hand.

Thankyou for all the kind comments! I was pleased with how the spoonbill photos came out. Danny, you'd have laughed if you could have seen me - we were just trying to get some photos of the egret when the spoonbill flew in and landed right next to it, and I just threw my monopod, camera case and binoculars at Mr N, hissed, "Hold those for a minute!", got down on my stomach and wriggled to the edge of the estuary behind a gorse bush, leaving poor Mr N to amuse himself for a good 20 minutes! The most difficult thing was trying to get a photo where you could actually see his beak. He was a VERY dedicated feeder!

:thankyou2: acey and Night Owl! Being so close to that confident little robin was just amazing.

We went to Fowlmere RSPB reserve early this morning, and I got my first ever photo of a linnet! Thankyou for confirming the id for me, Dave. The dawn chorus was fantastic to hear.

:thankyou:

Jane, that must be wonderful. I'm terrible at getting up! :morning*: The linnet did make it very easy for me - she posed in that spot for a long time. I'm sure she's smiling...

:thankyou: Dave!

Two lots of photos today - as it was a warm day I set the remote camera up by the bird bath:

"Oh, I'm such a pretty sparrow..."
