Thanks Eric. All of the credit really has to go to all of the wonderful people around Dumfries and Galloway that have done an amazing job conserving this species, which allows me the opportunity to photograph them. :)

Dave, a question: i have a short video clip of a Red Kite swooping down in our garden to pick up a bone. It is only 2 or three seconds long. If I had a website I could post it on it and give you a link, but as I haven't that isn't a possibility. Is there any way of posting it? It was taken on an iPhone.

 Eric you would need to upload the clip to a video hosting site and then add the link here.
Both Youtube and Vimeo are free and easy to use

* I have just had a look and you can actually upload videos to Flickr in the same way that you do photos so that might be a better option for you?

They are a wonderful sight, Jen. We are fortunate to have so many round here. The most I have seen at one time circling over a field near here was 32. It may have been 31 or it may have been 33, they are terribly difficult to count when they are in a group like that.

Great sighting Jen.

That would have been some sight Eric. I did visit Tregaron in mid Wales a few years ago where we had over 100 in the air at once, but it is where the feeding station is so numbers would have been higher.

I managed to upload this video clip taken by our friend Mike through our kitchen window. I managed to take one as well but his was more dramatic and he has given me permission to use it. It is so quick that if you blink you'll miss it !

Here is the link on Flickr:-

I'm glad you found a way to post one of the video clips, Eric. For such a big bird, it amazes me how skillfully they manage to swoop down into gardens.

Thank you Ann, the clip was very short but it gives an idea of what a big bird it is.
