Kestrel Silhouettes.

We were walking on Wells Pinewoods late one afternoon when we encountered a Kestrel, hunting fairly close to us as well. Unfortunately the light wasn't very good but i decided to take some photos anyway.

We don't see as many kestrels as we used to. I wonder if it is the presence of red kites. They are supposed to just feed on carrion but watching them I sometimes suspect they catch small mammals too.

Kestrels were common in many parts Eric but usually i only see two, maybe three in any one given area.
