Thanks, Jan, Tabatha and Ann. We try to attract them with lots of food, also there are lots of thick hedges and bushes for nesting. I suspect the long tailed tits occupied a nest in the garden not so long ago. I have been thinking about the juvenile Robins, there are at least three, possibly four. Knowing that they are territorial and there is already an adult around, where will they establish their own territory? For some time we had one, claiming the bottom half of the garden and another claiming the top. If the one from the bottom arrived at the bird table it got chased off. Perhaps the neighbours will enjoy the arrival of a new Robin. |

Yes indeed, Julie. They were so tiny I wondered if they were juveniles as there were so many. |

Thanks Jan. I see that other people (and my bird books) refer to the doves as Collared Doves. Anthea and I have always referred to them as Ring Doves, is that an expression anyone else uses? |

Superb photos Eric. I must admit i had not heard that name for Collared Doves before, maybe a locally derived name possibly. |
