Campaigners have scored a victory for the extension of the park boundaries.

Interesting - 1% of the YORKSHIRE dales will now be in LANCASHIRE. You have to be Yorkshire or Lancaastrian to fully appreciate the implications

I (used to) know that area so any further protection is welcome

Thanks for the link Laurie I have read it but I think I need to read through again as I don't really understand why they wanted to do it :hmm:

I am probably being a bit dim here :bag:

 peppi ....... i heard that this morning :)

It sounds a great idea to me as i'm sure it'll give more protection to the area . Those with properties will be over the moon .. i'd think the value will rise . Those who wanted to move there shall have to pay more . Those who submit dubious plans will go through extra scrutiny ? although with a recent relaxation , will that make a difference .

So the vast majority of the area will be Cumbria .... Westmorland

Great news, any land area that can be increased with protection has to be a good thing.

I know exactly what you mean PeppiB, being a veteran spectator of many Lancashire vs Yorkshire cricket matches, you only have to listen to the chants to understand the rivalry!
