Midges! I met plenty of those Scottish midges in the Trossachs years ago, and they really do make a meal of you :gaah:

Jen... oh no ahh . You'll need some of John's Skin So Soft spray, a mozzy face mask and a diver's wet suit (those would be my choices anyway), but then I'm a wuss regards insects flying around my face :bag:

You'll definitley need some form of protection I would imagine though - good luck with that Jen :fingers:

I'll never forget poor Simon King, covered in midges when he was filming for Springwatch or Autumnwatch. So far I've been quite lucky and not been troubled much by midges (although I do try to visit Scotland either side of midge season).

We've only visited Scotland once, and that was about 20 years ago.

It was a weekend visit in November, over Guy Fawkes Night actually.

We went to Glasgow, saw a bit of Loch Lomond then into Edinburgh.

Can't really remember an awful lot about that visit really - except we weren't affected by any midges.

:lol2: Laurie , i doubt i'll covering up that much , and i haven't even got any cream . Coincidentally , there was an Avon stall in the shopping mall the other day , i did wonder whether to ask if they had John's cream :ha: .. but walked past

I'd been saying for a few years that i'd not been worried by them but the recent trip up to the snow slopes and funicular railway ended all that . The wildflower garden there was full of them :run:

Many years ago the wife and I took the overnight train to Crianlarich to climb two mountains ( Ben More and Stob Binnien ) on a lovely sunny day in June ( although we did get snowed upon on the summits ) well we done the two and were mildly bothered by the midges as was usual, when we finally got back to the station we had about a three hour wait for the train back to London,no problem cos we were pretty worn out and were looking forward to a nice rest in the sunshine ---no chance ! the dreaded midges descended upon us in their thousands, there was absolutely no wind which they love and we couldn't escape them anywhere ,there was nothing open anywhere and not even a waiting room so tired as we were we just had to keep moving just to get some relief from the pesky blighters! they really are a pain !!

Some horror stories on here, especially if you aren't keen on midges, but then again...who is!

Good clip there John and i have seen something similar but with a Horsefly.

Nothing worse than 'Scottish midges in the Trossachs' Eric :cwl: sounds painful to me!
