Great photos of the Heron and Puffins, John.
Thank you Ann!

I love Puffins, I have been to Skomer several times... it's well worth a visit. Of course the timing is very important as the Puffins only come ashore for a short time to breed. Early June seems the best time to visit Skomer, you need to spend several days in Pembrokeshire as the crossing to Skomer is very weather dependent and the short boat journey cannot be pre-booked and is first come first served. Only 250 people are allowed to visit Skomer each day, that's only five crossing on the Dale Princess. If you go over to Skomer on the first crossing of the day you return to Martins Haven on the first boat in the afternoon and so on.

Excellent Heron and Puffin shots John :cool4:

The sad expression on the faces of the Puffins always reminds me of clown's faces.

I've never been to Skomer, John. Are there any toilets there? I usually get my Puffin fix on the Farne Islands on the way back from a trip to Scotland. I had to wait extra time there this year as the weather was too rough to cross on two of the days.

Ann... yes there is one toilet block which depending on where you are can be a bit of a walk. I'm sure you can find a quiet spot in among the Bluebells and Red Campion or behind a rock... :Ha:

All the visitors will be busy photographing the Puffins which nest near the cliffs not you... :Ha: Just walk a 100 yards or so towards the centre of the island. I've been to Skomer several times and the toilet facilities have never stopped me going.

John... I only fitted the windows about three weeks ago so they haven't been there long enough to get very dirty yet. I've had about 20 Goldfinches feeding a few times and they are often fighting for position on the feeders.

Lovely photos John, again bringing back great memories of Skomer. We watched a Short Eared Owl hunt over the Bluebells & Campion one year we went, magical :)

Thanks Jen! I'm not sure about the webcam. Here's a link to Gigrin Farm in case anyone doesn't know about it.
