Fantastic Autumnal images , Dave. Funny though, I don't know why but I always assumed Kelling had mainly pine trees.

:hanging: very nice colours everyone .. super photos showing what could turn out to be an exceptional Autumn :clap4:

I've a few in the garden changing a beautiful colour now ... the azalea , the new thornless brambles ( Loch Maree & Loch Ness) and the Spiraea japonica 'Goldflame'

Thanks everyone.

Lovely colours in those photos Jen.

Hi Ann.

Kelling has a great mix of habitat and you are right in thinking that it mainly consists of pine and heathland. There is one area however, at the back of the trim trail, that is mixed deciduous woodland and this stretches for a good number of miles, almost circling the whole top end of Kelling.

Thank you for clarifying, Dave. It's another place I must visit one day.

Lovely colours, Jen and Paula and two things I've just learned - I'd never heard of thornless Brambles or a Wild Service tree.

The Wild Service is my favourite tree Ann and a sign of Ancient woodand

The Fruit are called chequers and in the old days they were collected and bletted and eaten by children at Hallowe'en

Ah, now that you've mentioned chequers Paula, it's all coming back to me. I believe that's how "Chequers" (PM's residence near me) came to be named.

Gorgeous reflection Tabatha.
