Thank you everyone, Jan, it is the oak trees that seem to be clinging on to their leaves, the beech and ash are almost bare. Very young beech saplings seem to keep their leaves as do beech hedges.

I was going to photograph it the day prior to that one but there were so many people sitting underneath it and walking past, that I didn't bother. On this occasion there was only one lady walking past it so I had a nice clear shot. In post-production I air-brushed the lady out of the scene, so it looks completely deserted :cwl:
