For all fungi lovers here, I thought you may find this of interest.

A new species of fungus has been found in the New Forest and you can read about it here.

I came across this article in our local free newspaper, New Forest Post, this week.

:thanks: Laurie ..... that's a fascinating article and interesting to learn how they are working with visitors , hoping they'll adhere to requests not to harvest the fungi . I do hope that people will respect the Forestry Commissions wishes . It's very exciting to know there are fungi still to be discovered even though in the New Forest alone there are already a known 2,700 types

That's partly what makes the Forest such a fascinating place - you just never know what you'll discover next :cool4: which is very exciting.

I wonder if the new found fungi look similar to known species with minor differences, or are they really different? If they are different it's amazing that things completely new are still being discovered. Thanks for that Laurie, the experts better start updating their " Complete Guides" I guess.
