Only just started to sort my photos into separate folders naming the year this evening which should make things a great dear easier, funny that but it has only just crossed my mind. Anyhow found theses from 2011, this is Rusty a remarkable bird indeed for not many wild sparrow hawks will allow one to approach so close, especially after bathing. I am not ashamed to say I still miss him either hmm.

Thank you, Pam it is ‘very kind’ of you to say so. This is the new kid on the block I call this one Hercules as he is larger then Rusty was, for as you know Sparrow hawks’ male and female overlap in size, in fact this one brought down a woodpigeon. Whether or not this as ever been documented I am not sure but I have never seen it written anywhere’, of course he was unable to carry it off. I do have the evidence somewhere but that will be in my book if and when I ever get around to having it finished, the problem being when to stop for I tend to see something different almost every day.

Oh my word I am overwhelmed, thank you so much everyone for your very kind words of appreciation, (I forgot to say for I nearly always forger to say something) some older females tend to resemble the male, so behaviour at the nest site can often be the only way to be 100% sure in those cases, although Hercules is most definitely male for just like Alan he is unable to multi task. :teehee:
