Hi all, it is very grey, foggy & gloomy here today, like many places I guess so we decided to walk out local down the River Rea towards town, not expecting to see much. Walking through the woods at the back of Cannon Hill Park we came across Parakeets!!! A first for us, they are over in Sandwell Vallet RSPB but we have never seen any & they were the last thing we expected to see today. A group of 5 or 6 flew around noisily & then settled in the tree. The photos aren`t much good, the light so bad, but we are dead chuffed to have seen them :YaY:

Image uploader not working, I`ll post photos later................

Hi all, thanks for looking.
My husband spotted one bird first, sitting quietly, we wondered what it was! That bird flew quietly to another. We left them alone, high up in the trees. On our way back we were keeping our eyes open then heard a rucous (not sure that`s spelt right!) & 5 or 6 flew around for a while before settling high up. :Hi:

 It's fun to see the different birds Pam but i hope too many of them don't make their way to all the fruit growing areas ... we can say goodbye to to it all if that happens :(

How amazing to find them near you, Pam. They have been around in South East London for a long time, we saw a flock at the bottom of Anthea's cousin's garden in Dulwich 20 years ago, perhaps they have spread.

I know they have spread to many counties in the UK and they have been seen in our county far more often recently.
