Finally I got a sunset that did not coincide with domestic duties !
From a darkened field in deepest N.Somerset I got 13 frames that I later stitched together in this panorama :

Go HERE for a large (1.5Mb) version
and/or see my Autumn Challenge for a telephoto of the church.

Thanks Mick,
firstly I should say that if you examine my pic in detail the noise therein is due to me being late-on-parade and it was already so dark that I needed ISO1600 (much more noise in my cam. than at ISO100 -800)

Stitching was done in an excellent freeware called "autostitch"
http://www.cs.bath.ac.uk/brown/autostitch/autostitch.html
Looks like freeware is unsupported since neary 10y but there are commercial versions.

In my opinion ( 4whatitworth!) the best out there, beats Hugin(way too complicated) and ICE(microsoft)

The help file is errrm, nonexistent ! , for normal exposure ranges the default settings work well
but for extreem exposures, like sunsets, you'll have to delve blindly into Options> alpha/beta settings.

OhhhhOpps,
looks like that page has changed since I bookmarked it
Now if you go way down to the bottom there is a link to a "Download Windows Demo"
which I think is the same as wot I am using

If you are on Windows and are uncertain about downloading an exe, PM me.

Stitching was done in an excellent freeware called "autostitch"
Demoware not freeware now.
I've had a look in the downloaded .zip and it is still version 2.2 that I have been using, same size/date etc.
Does not need installing, just run the autostitch.exe as a stand-alone.
Result is written, into the same folder, as "pano.jpg" (which will overwrite previous runs, so re-name if you want to keep the pano)
