Interesting, Laurie, did you see Graylings link to a Guardian article on the same subject. John P posed the question "how often do we clean our feeders". |

I didn't see Grayling's Guardian link Eric. As you know, we don't have any bird feeders in our garden so that's not an issue for us. In our old house we did have feeders and we regularly washed and disinfected them, as we were aware of diseases that can be spread on them. |

Thanks for the link Laurie. We are always on the lookout for any of our garden birds with signs of disease and thankfully we have not witnessed any this far. Keeping feeders/bird tables etc clean and sanitised is vital. |

Thank you for the link, Laurie. I have access to a disinfectant at work called TriGene and I soak my feeders with a drop of that in the water. I haven't seen any signs of ill health in the birds that visit, thankfully. |

Laurie , i too clean my feeders and have seen no evidence of disease on birds visiting my garden ... but it certainly exists .There have been many articles over the years reminding us of the problem ... and most of us take notice . Regular reminders are a must

for the link Laurie, like others have said it's good to have a reminder that we should be cleaning the feeders regularly Thankfully we haven't had any birds in our garden showing any signs of disease.
