If you plan on seeing these movies.. DON'T. They are the same EXACT movie except one is dancing and the other is fighting. SPOILERS AHEAD Never Back Down/Step Up 2 in a nutshell: They start off similar. The main character (who I'll now refer to as MC) is in one city, fighting/dancing. MC gets in trouble, has to go to new city. MC has hard time in new city, wants to go back to old city. MC eventually finds something he/she likes in new city and meets some friends. MC is brought/forced into fighting/dancing at their new city. MC competes/trains for a while. There is a competition for fighting/dancing. -The participants won't know about the competition until night of, by text message. MC goes to the competition. -Is forced out of the competition in some way, but continues outside of the competition building. Outside, after an extended, climax scene, the MC prevails. -In both movies, it is dark and surround MC with cars and use the headlights as lighting. -In both, after the MC prevails, there is a cheery, cheesy ending where the MC ends up making out with his/her love interest, which was an on-and-off relationship throughout the entire movie. I would give Never Back Down a 3.5/10. It wasn't a good movie but at least gave me an adrenaline rush from violence. I would give Step Up 2: The Streets a 3/10. It was the same movie as Never Back Down. The dancing was actually entertaining at one or two times. The soundtrack was kind of cool even though I typically hate rap/urban dance music. MC had a nice butt. |

Never Back Down looks interesting, though, and Step Up 2 (Despite it's crap sequel title) looks enjoyable. I like to watch good dancing, and good fighting. |
