This thread is a continuation of the other history threads. Be sure to check the other thread if some of the names or places don't ring any bells. The format will remain a timeline, as before. Be sure to ask if you have any questions, and share any comments you might have. The timeline begins in the formative years of the newly forged nation, and will continue through it's rise to power in this thread. 1: The five "Dragon Crowned" nobles come together in Rydicia City and sign the Pact of the Dragon Crowned, merging their collective peoples together under one banner. Together, they launch a campaign of expansion and growth for their new nation, Rydicia. 1: Halfling settlers found the settlements of Foxtrot, Freereign, and River's Run along the banks of the Whiskey River. 1: The twin cities of Dirkgaurd and Boarsgate merge, forming a permanent fortress city on the border of the Feather Fields. The new city is known from this point forward as Fort Boarsgate. Half-Orc and Elvish pioneers settle in the surrounding areas, forming watchtower communities along the border, to gaurd against another Hobgoblin invasion. 5: Gnomish refugees escape from the Feywild and settle around Crawler's Hollow. 5: The Spice Marsh, a large wetland in the north is discovered to bear several species of edible fruits, vegatables, and most notably exotic spices. Within a year, boom towns are built up on stilts above the marsh, including Briarhorn, Dobb's Patch, and Blacklake. 5: Dwarves and Half-Orcs spread across the northern border in the foothills of the Razorback Mountains. There they establish a series of mobile barracks and lookout points to gaurd against constant raids from the northern White Orcs. In these formative years, many such outposts are lost, but the Rydician's hold the border, with the aid of Dragonborn mercenaries. 5: The Eladrin Warlock, Firre of Endless Summer, completes a great ritual at Spider Canyon. On the two decade anniversary of the drow massacre, the Warlock binds the living spirit of the sky itself, forcing it to hold the city aloft over the Canyon. The Eladrin name this city Auth-Solise, or Triumph of the Sun, in the Eladrin language. 10: The Battle of Tenflags. An endless tide of White Orcs pour from the Razorback Mountains into Rydicia. The Rydician Dwarves, Half Orcs, and their Dragonborn allies are forced to fall back time and again before the barbaric Orcs of the north. The orcs pursue into a narrow valley, only to be ambushed by forces under the command of Edderik Blackhart. The half-elven wizard's magic served to conceal the ambush, and caught between a four part army, the Orc hoard is scattered. Fort Tenflags is founded on the sight of the battle. 10: Drow and Dwarves expand to islands surrounding Draug-Mathor in the Secret Sea, establishing the cities of Deepwell, and Blackstone, expanding the lines of fresh water across the Rydician empire. A young black dragon assaults Matriarch Vice's convoy shortly after the founding of Deepwater, but is subdued and slain by the drow priestess's magic. 10: Ta'an Blunt-tusk, a Half Orc Paladin of Gruumsh leaves from Boarsgate for The Feather Fields, on a quest of vengeance against Darheel Red Crest for the genocide of his father's people. He brings with him the blessing of his God, and a loyal follwing of enraged young Half-Orcs, as well as agrieved human family members. 15: The Red Dragon Doulgraith "Flashfire" launches an airborn raid on the floating city of Auth-Solice. The attck ends abruptly, when the Firre of Endless Summer joins the battle, and Doulgraith finds the air above Spider Canyon will no longer bear him aloft. The great drake crashes to a brutal death on the canyon floor, thousands of feet below. 15: Ta'an Blunt-tusk and his followers put Camp Gaulitep, a former Boar Tribe interment camp, to the torch, routing Darheel Red Crest's forces from the area. The Aged Hobgoblin chieften is taken unaware by the Half Orc Paladin's forces, and loses a series of skirmishes. Darheel's only son is slain in one such skirmish, leaving the Red Crest dynasty with no male heir. So soon after his failed Rydician invasions, the hobgoblin chieften's army is unprepared to handle a small heavily armed insurgence within their borders. Darheel hires the Green Order, a mercenary company lead by the Tiefling Warlord Takar the Green to track down Ta'an and his folllowers and drive them out of the Feather Fields. Ta'an and Takar's forces clash at the mouth of Weed River, and both powerful heroes meet in combat. Ta'an escapes the battle, with Takar in hot pursuit. 16: Battle of The Bloc. Darheel Red Crest and his royal gaurd march to intercept Ta'an and his followers. The half-orc paladin and his retinue are cornered in a long abandoned execution camp known as The Bloc. The Green Order and Darheel's gaurds outnumber the champions of Gruumsh, but the tide turns drastically when Takar the Green turns on his hobgoblin employers. Bolstered by the Tieflings of The Green Order, Ta'an's forces make short work of the hobgoblin elite gaurds. Darheel is executed on the very same spot as many of his Boar Tribe victims. Ta'an and Takar, as well as their followers then flee the Feather Fields, leaving the hobgoblins in a period of leaderless chaos. Umber Soul, a wretched hag and known concubine of Darheel Red Crest eventually claims the leadership of the Red Crest, when she reveals that she carries the slain chieftain's son in her withered womb. 20: Widely held as heroes to the communities along the southern border of Rydicia, Ta'an Blunt-tusk and Takar the Green found the community of Proudstand over the sight of an ancient ruin. Shortly after it's founding, Umber Soul attacks the foundling city from the back of a blue dragon. Working together, Ta'an and Takar are able to slay the dragon, but Umber Soul's dark magic carries her to safety. 20: Chattanatha, a Great Wyrm Copper dragon poisons the wells at Draug-Mathor, Deepwell, and Blackstone, tainting the water in cities across the empire. For years the great wyrm is able to fool the drow overseers that the poison is the plot of goblins, while simultaniously causing other cities to suspect the drow wellwardens of treachery. Left unchecked, her deception might have undone the empire. However, her machinations are discovered by The Firre of Endless Summer, who presents proof of the dragon's plot to Matriarch Vice. The Eladrin and Drow nobles then work together to track Chattanatha down, and subdue the Great Wyrm in a clash of epic magic. This show of co-operation between Eladrin and Drow does much to stiffle racial hostilities between the two fey races in Rydicia throughout the coming years. 25: Tobori Red Crest, the half-fey child of Darheel Red Crest and the hag Umber Soul rises to the Red Crest throne at the age of nine. His crone mother continues to advise the fearie child from behind the throne, and Hobgoblin forces withdraw all along the Rydician border. During the boy-chieftain's reign Hobgoblins become more xenophobic, and close their borders to outsiders. Within the Feather Fields, nonhobgoblins are persecuted and imprisoned. 25: The Great Accord. Once more the five Dragon Crowned meet in Rydicia City to discuss the fate of their realm. Ta'an Blunt-tusk, Tarak the Green, and The Firre of Endless Summer are formally inducted into the ranks of the Dragon Crowned, bringing their membership to eight. These eight lords, the Dragon Crowned, agree to protect and preserve the Rydician people, and together defend the nation's borders from Hobgoblins in the south, savage Orcs in the north, and greedy dragons from above and below. No one member has greater say than any other, and the eight Dragon Crowned are the highest form of Rydician government recognized at this time. |

"Our time has come. For three hundred years, we prepared. We grew stronger, while you rested, in your cradle of power, believing your people were safe, and protected. You were trusted to lead The Republic, but you were decieved, as our powers of the Dark Side have blinded you. You assumed no force could challenge you. And now, finally, we have returned. You were decieved, and now, your Republic shall fall." -Darth Angral, at the sacking of Coruscant. | |
