Watcha Listenin' To?
More guitar rock. This time it's Dire Straits performing Lady Writer.

I purchased a Dreamcast when it launched here in the U.S. and really enjoyed the system. On-line Unreal Tournament was such a blast back before broadband became ubiquitous. I also put in tons of time with Soul Calibur with my friends during local gaming parties. I guess you could say that it supplanted Mario Kart 64 as our go-to game there for a while.

Later I purchased an Asian Dreamcast just so I could play Frame Gride. That was before the Utopia boot disc became available.

Ironically, while I loved the DC back in the day I don't have it connected to a TV now. The controller, while adequate, never felt very comfortable during extended gaming sessions. The console does have some fantastic software but generally speaking many of its games feel dated or have been improved upon in iterations on other consoles.

Use of display technology to produce the best possible image from the N64
I'm lucky to have a nice 20 inch CRT TV for my N64 and I'm optimizing the image by using an S-Video connection. However, I'm not completely opposed to emulation as that opens up many of the N64's masterpieces to people who might not have otherwise given the software a chance.

Lots of people are still playing Super Smash Bros. semi competitively on-line thanks to PC emulation, and of course many youngsters are still discovering the wonders of Ocarina of Time because of the Wii's Virtual Console service.

My feeling is that in the very near future people who still play N64 games will be doing so via some form of emulation as CRT TV's are no longer manufactured and their image quality is admittedly archaic and obsolete.

Best N64 Sports Game (Ball/Puck/Ring Edition)
Here are my three favorite non Nintendo sports games of the N64.

Project M

After watching some gameplay of Project M, I must say i'm rather tempted to import a US copy of brawl...
I wouldn't bother unless you have somebody else who is relatively good at the game to play against. The genius of Project M mostly shines through in multi-player although I must admit that some of the new stages are worth experiencing even if you have to do so alone.

Was a beautiful day today and had a gorgeous sunset. Took some pictures of the Jeep while we were out enjoying it.

How did you get your Jeep on the surface of Mars?

The guitar riff at the intro of that song sounds soooo familiar...

Babe I'm Gonna Leave You by Led Zeppelin.

Project M
Project M 3.01 is now available and it's the best version of this amazing mod yet. It's so good, in fact, that I went back and tried to play Melee today and it felt subpar by comparison.

Super Smash Bros. 4 is going to be released this year on the Wii U and I'm sure everyone will be comparing it to Project M it terms of competitiveness.

Watcha Listenin' To?
Listening to more guitar rock from a band better known for its horn work.

What's the last thing you ate/drank?
A Dunkin' Donuts Boston Cream donut.

It's a donut that's filled with vanilla cream pudding and glazed with a layer of dark chocolate coating. OMG it was so delicious!

Also had a small cup of fresh brewed coffee with cream and sweetener to add to my sugar high.

We've got a strong contingent of Mini fans here at N64 Forever. You're in good company, sallan89.

Watcha Listenin' To?
Remember how fly Obama girl was in this provocative video that even had a catchy tune? :D

I have all the N64 Rareware games except one.

Spoiler: click to toggle
I currently have the same, Mikey's Speedway USA is currently in the post to me ;)
How much did you pay for Mickey's Speedway?

Watcha Listenin' To?
From back in the day comes some amazing guitar rock.

N64 TV differences
Here in the U.S. my friend has a smallish Emerson (22 inch maybe) LCD TV and we often play Super Smash Bros. Melee on it. He's got his GameCube connected to the set with just composite cables and in 4:3 mode it doesn't look half bad. If I'm not mistaken the native resolution of that TV is 720p and it runs at 60 Hz.

What games are you playing?

Been playing F-Zero GX the past several nights. I never appreciated how good that game was back then. It also reminds me how absolutely glorious the Gamecube controller is.

The last two tracks on the Emerald Cup keep kicking my butt though!
F-Zero GX is amazing both graphically and in terms of gameplay.

Which vehicle are you using, kartmaster?

The Xbox One Topic

From Section 5 of the XB1M13 agreement of underhanded shadiness
You agree to keep confidential at all times all matters relating to this Agreement, including, without limitation, the Promotional Requirements, and the CPM Compensation, listed above.
Basically, the main intent of this section is to simply deceive viewers into believing a paid advertisement is an honest opinion. And from what I can tell, it seems all parties involved are trying to hide/gloss over this facet of the agreement, even after the recent disclosure. Absolutely abhorrent.
It's disgusting! It'd be like finding out that Lithium is being paid to advertise in his wonderful and influential YT videos without disclosing the fact. Thankfully he and finngamer have too much integrity to involve themselves in such behavior just to turn a few quick bucks.
