I'm definitely going to keep my eyes open to see if I can grab an extra controller and re-wire it for my N64 though. I think, then, I will have found my perfect N64 controller... Especially if I can find a way to add rumble! :)
I'd like to try out the iQue as an N64 controller because the d-pad looks like it would actually work quite well with games like Killer Instinct Gold.

you're very talented, Grizz. May i ask what you do for a living?
Thank you for your kind words, Mk II. That means a lot coming from you.

I'm an engineer in the telecommunications industry. However, I started out wanting to working for ILM (George Lucas' special effects company) after the movie Star Wars literally changed my life when I was a young man.

How far did you get?

Did you make a film? (if so, I want to see it)
Yes we got some footage on 8mm film. No way to share it though as it's never been digitized. :(

Here's another little beastie I made.

The red sockets beside its trunk are where tusks used to be but they fell off over the years and eventually got lost.

You should make Halloween masks.

I wish I was that artsy.
Thanks.

Here's a model I made for a little film that a friend and I were working on.

Play an N64 game...
The Arcade Shark looks interesting and quite usable for some arcade ports but I'm a little skeptical at how long it would last if used for Killer Instinct Gold at anything beyond a casual level of play.

TNT737373, I'd really like to read your impression of the Arcade Shark with KIG if you get a chance. Maybe with a character like Jago who has a lot of rolling motions to pull off his moves.

Two more of my creations.

Playstation controller to N64 adapter

Don't get me wrong I love the 64 but I have always liked the feel of the PS controller a little better.

Anyway does anyone know how well it works? C buttons? Analogue stick?

I have one of these but I've never been able to get a Playstation controller to work on a N64 with it. I think it only works with the third-party steering wheel it came with unless my adapter is broken.

iQue Player Value Query
I'm torn on how to feel about the iQue as a collectible. I've researched and haven't been able to find the number of units produced. Conceivably they're common in China given the nation's large population but as most of us in the US are aware the Chinese don't mind pirating software. With that in mind it's possible that there aren't too many iQue players to be had as most people viewed the system as superfluous.

The iQue's novelty gives it some value but the fact that it doesn't have any exclusive software diminishes some of its desirability. Ultimately I feel about it like I feel about Japanese exclusive software for the N64; at a low enough price I'll buy just to say I have it but I won't go out of my way to get it.

Nonetheless, I still view Trashbat's iQue collection as the premiere example outside of China and for that reason I give it high marks. Basically he'd have no trouble selling if and when he decides to do so.

Very nice set, Trashbat! Do you recall how much you paid for this in US dollars when you originally purchased it?

I suspect that your whole set is worth quite a bit of money given its novelty and condition. :yeah:

Long time lover.
Welcome to our close-knit little community.

When I read the title "long time lover" my dirty mind ran away with me but after reading your post I catch your drift.

Post When You Buy or Sell Any Game
I just checked and I still see the TvC arcade fightstick selling for around $25 on Amazon but I have no idea how much longer it's gonna last. I ordered mine about 10 days ago so they must have a pretty good supply of them but if you want one you better order ASAP.

It's really an amazing value when you consider all you get for the price. I tried it out a little and it plays almost as well as my Xbox 360 stick that I modded with Sanwa parts.

Post When You Buy or Sell Any Game
Today my Tatsunoko vs. Capcom arcade stick for the Nintendo Wii arrived. I purchased it because Amazon had them on sale for just ~ $28 with shipping. That's much cheaper than I can make an arcade stick so I snapped it up. Besides, fighting games are one of my favorite genres and this stick will also be compatible with the Wii U.

N64 on TV & HDTV
Yeah an external upscaler should probably be a last resort but at some point I'm sure people who want to play games on the original N64 hardware will have no other choice.

If somebody buys or already owns an external upscaler or VGA compatible device I'd love to read their impressions!

Looks like we'll all be podracing this November!!
OK by me because I've been looking for a good excuse to play this game more seriously.

This was a good month because I like almost all the games we had to choose from. :yeah:

A new gamer is born...
Welcome to the lovely Maizy! Congrats.

Yes Mk I've seen the picture of your TV in action and it is very nice indeed. :yeah:

I think collectors should be concerned about retro and legacy consoles being playable on modern televisions for investment purposes. If there's no way to get a decent picture on a moderately priced television then people will just give up trying and turn to emulation for all their classic gaming needs. Right now that isn't completely happening because used CRT's are still easy to find but as the years go by that won't always be the case.

I'd use S-video except for the fact that my TV doesn't have an S-video input.
Yes that's the problem. It seems that in an effort to reduce cost many manufacturers are dropping S-Video support. For some strange reason most TV's still support composite but who knows how much longer that's going to last.

Yes a few TV's have good upscalers built-in but it's really hard to know which ones as I don't believe that's mentioned in the spec sheet.

This guy has a 46 inch Sony Bravia EX705 that gives a spectacular N64 image but I don't think they even sell this TV in the US. :(
