Super Smash Bros. WiiU: Let's Play it Together!!!
We can always try but don't be disappointed if it ends up being a laggy mess.

Finally here! Loving it so far!

It's really a great game isn't it?

Happy to see that you also got the GameCube Controller Adapter because the game is so much better when played with that controller.

Super Smash Bros. WiiU: Let's Play it Together!!!
Based on the lag I've experienced just playing against U.S. Smashers I sincerely doubt that international on-line play is going to be viable. :(

You really can't have too many GameCube controllers since SSBWiiU supports up to eight players. The hard part is getting your hands on two of the rare GC Controller Adapters for Wii U.

BTW, I'm hearing talk that there's a patch out now that makes the GC Controller Adapter compatible with PC's which is huge given how popular the Dolphin emulator is. This is bound to make the GC Controller Adapters even more sought after.

You're too kind, bluedog. I think a big factor was that luck simply was not on your side last night. For example, you were flat-out robbed of your victory on our last race on Yoshi Circuit.

Bluedog had let me know that Yoshi Circuit was going to be his last race for the evening. It made sense as we'd gone through all the new tracks of DLC#1 and continuing was becoming redundant without more human racers. I took an early lead in the first lap but knew it was tenuous given Andy's innate driving skill and the randomness of Mario Kart 8's item distribution. It was completely likely that any of the racers behind me would get three red shells while I merely got coins thus severely limiting my chance of staying competitive. With that in mind, you can imagine my surprise when bluedog wrestled away first place not with a cheap red shell, but by taking the short cut through the water fall. Even with all the sharp twists and turns of Yoshi Circuit he maintained control and defended his well-earned lead from that point forward. That is until the game mercilessly decided to give one of the A.I. controlled racers the blue shell of doom immediately after I slowed bluedog with a volley of projectiles from the fiendish Fire Flower. I can only imagine the stream of obscenities yelled at the screen when that villainous event happened so late in the race. Such is the nature of Mario Kart 8's on-line multiplayer and why the game has to be enjoyed only in a lighthearted manner. :D

MK8 Tourney SATURDAY, 12/3 @ 10:30PM EDT
Considering the lag we experience with Aussie players in Mario Kart 8, I'm thinking SSBWiiU tourneys aren't going to be practical.

Any chance we can go back to 10:30pm for our MK8 races tonight?

Super Smash Bros for 3DS/Wii U
I've unlocked all the characters in SSBWiiU so now I've started experimenting with a Mii Fighter. I chose to go with a Mii Brawler to approximate the fighting style of Luigi who I used a lot in Project M. Just another layer in this game that's as deep as The Land of the Rising Sun from which it came. :)

11/27 Thanksgiving: a US exclusive
Happy Thanksgiving from balmy North Carolina! No snow here in the "gateway to the South".

I'll try to join the Mario Kart 8 races tomorrow night although I'm sure I'm going to suck since I really haven't spent much time with the new tracks. Hopefully the game will grant me plenty of red shells to allow me to be competitive. X_D

Super Smash Bros for 3DS/Wii U
Many people say they don't understand the appeal of the Super Smash Bros. franchise and how the games are nothing more than "button mashers". This is one of my recent replies from another forum that I frequent.

Super Smash Bros. can be as shallow or as deep as you want it to be. It just depends who you're playing against and how seriously they take it.

I own both Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. Wii U and I find the latter to be infinitely more appealing than the former. Both are good but SSBWiiU is much more rewarding to people who take the time to master its nuisances and metagame.

I suggest playing some For Glory 1-on-1 matches to get a first hand glimpse of how Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is anything but a button masher. In fact, I think Soul Calibur V is much more of a casual game than SSBWiiU is.

Apparantly Japan will also habe a white SSB Version. I didn't know that.
White SSB
Interesting. I recall reading a while ago that Japanese people react to the color white like we Westerners react to black. For example; we wear black to funerals were as they wear white.

I find this line particularly disturbing.

"The FTC also settled with Deutsch LA, which had urged its staffers to praise the device on Twitter without also instructing them to disclose their relationship to Sony."

It's simply amazing how easy it is to sink countless hours in to this game.

I haven't even touched Mario Kart 8 since I got SSB4 which is a real shame because I like the new tracks in DLC#1.

Super Smash Bros for 3DS/Wii U
I'll try to restrain my enthusiasm until European members have access to SSBWiiU.

Super Smash Bros for 3DS/Wii U
OMG, I've been playing so many 1-on-1 For Glory matches that my hands are literally throbbing. :-8

Late last night I had an epic battle with me using Mario and my opponent picking Greninja. The fight went right down to the wire but I finally knocked him out of the stage with a perfectly timed smash attack. It's extremely satisfying having Mario be a viable character again after he was so nerfed in Melee and Brawl.

I'm also using Falco, DK and Wario a lot depending on whether I'm playing For Fun or For Glory.

The Nintendo Amiibo Topic
Pokemon's Lucario Amiibo Exclusive to Toys R Us

"Yet another retailer-exclusive Amiibo has been revealed. Toys R Us announced today that it will be the exclusive carrier of the Lucario Amiibo, which will go on sale on February 1, 2015 for $14."

The Nintendo Amiibo Topic
Kartmaster brings up a good point; we probably won't know which Amiibo are actually rare until most of us are old and grey. :D

It'd be nice if Nintendo offered special edition Amiibo through Club Nintendo to ensure that some are indeed more exclusive than others. Maybe give out some really rare ones at events like EVO or E3. Ultimately the options, with respect to Amiibo, are nearly limitless. I'm holding out hope that Nintendo offers a program to turn my Mii in to an Amiibo. :w00t:

Super Smash Bros for 3DS/Wii U
Another random thought:

Anyone who's played Soul Calibur V will immediately recognize Namco Bandai's influence in the art style of SSBWiiU. To my eyes it's especially evident in the gorgeous Final Destination stage.

Super Smash Bros for 3DS/Wii U
Random SSBWiiU thoughts:

1) This game offers so much fun regardless of whether you're a serious or casual player. It is a BRILLIANT piece of software that must be experienced by anyone who has even a mild interest in the Super Smash Bros. franchise.

2) On-line can be a laggy mess at times but generally it's better than Brawl. Those of you who played Brawl on-line know that really isn't saying much but nonetheless, SSB4 is acceptable most of the time and spectacular at others.

3) Word is that the GC Adapters are hard to find so if you see one out in the wild it may be wise to snap it up. I'm really happy that I prepurchased mine! :w00t:

Last thing; Nintendo gave me 70 coins when I registered Super Smash Bros. Wii U at Club Nintendo. :yeah:
