Which Super Smash Bros?
The Cult of Super Smash Bros.
If I survive through my present ordeal and if the United States remains a viable country after "The Sequester" I'd like to one day make a movie that revolves around a tournament where Super Smash Bros. is the featured game. Basically the movie would be a reimagining of the film Amadeus in that a particularly gifted Smash player is being undermined by someone who he believes is an ally but is in fact so riddled with jealousy as to be an adversary.

I'm starting to think N64 Collecting is becoming a lot more than just a hobby for some people.
Would you be collecting for the N64 if values weren't going up?

Which Super Smash Bros?

Ok I remember playing this game on the Gamecube only, don't think I had on N64, and I'm aware there's a new wii version, though my questions is, what is the best out of N64/GC/Wii versions?

I will be playing multiplayer and one player.

I will probably get all 3 of them in time, but I just want one for now.
Right now Brawl is probably the best for one simple reason and that's because of the legal mod known as Project M. Basically the mod, which is loaded on to a 2GB SD card, changes some of the game's dynamics so that it plays more like Melee. In essence when you purchase Brawl you get two games for the price of one. :w00t:

Now is a great time to purchase Brawl because Walmart is selling it for just $29.99 brand new and it'll play on both the Wii and Wii U.

If you pick it up let me know and we can even play some friendlies on-line. All we gotta do is exchange Friend Codes.

Too me it's like picking my favorite child.

My plan is to write a retrospective on the Super Smash Bros. franchise but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Killer Instinct Gold video retrospective
There's nothing more tragic, IMO, than when somebody buys a great game like Star Wars Episode 1 Racer or Killer Instinct Gold and just throws it in their drawer after only 15 minutes of play with out taking the time to experience everything it has to offer. :-/

I got in to N64 collecting in 2008 and prices were not only reasonable but actually low back then. I would often see Perfect Dark NIB for under $10 and I was even able to pick up my copy of Sculptor's Cut for just five dollars. Now prices are insane! Seriously, I've literally been priced out of the N64 market because I have to manage my resources for games that I'll play on my current gen Xbox 360.

Killer Instinct Gold video retrospective
I'd like to share with you my video retrospective of Killer Instinct Gold for the Nintendo 64.

If the video didn't touch on anything that you'd like to discuss about the game feel free to bring it up. I love playing KIG and I also enjoy talking about its strategies, metagame and collectability. :D

Been trying to get a mint JP Perfect Dark for a long time. Every copy always gets bid up over $50 for some reason and that generally doesn't happen for JP N64 games. I think it's the coolest box for the system, and I guess so do a lot of other people, haha.

That is a very cool looking box.

I wonder how well received Perfect Dark was in Japan, anybody know?

Here in the US it didn't sell as well as Nintendo expected and for that reason it was fairly common to find the game New in Box for under $10 up until just a couple years ago.

What games are you playing?

Playing some Socom 2 Multiplayer using a bad hacked together set up, Game still holds up great today and still has some of the best map design I've seen
SOCOM 2 brings back some great memories. I remember chatting in the lobby and asking everybody to "green up" so we could get started. ;)

You mentioned that you couldn't find a database on variations, there's a great one on NES World which notes all the different cartridge codes.
Thank you for this excellent resource, danilochka!

I'd been trying to find out how big a cartridge Killer Instinct Gold is for a while and that site finally provided the answer. According to NES World KIG is only 12 Mega Bytes which explains why it's missing so many frames of animation.

What's the last thing you ate/drank?
I just had an Activia strawberry yogurt and about 8 Blue Diamond whole natural almonds as a snack with a 16 oz glass of filtered water. Very healthy!

ps2 also support component cable (YPbPr) which about any TV does have.
It's true that the PS2 does support component out but not all of its software will output in progressive scan or 16:9 widescreen. Here's a list of titles that do.

PlayStation 2 games with HD support

Im thinking of getting a hdtv myself, 32" at most.
I have a sega genesis, n64, ps2 and xbox360 and would like all to look good. Any specific brands that are good?
Id like to spend 200 - 300 bucks max.
The Xbox is gonna look good on just about any modern TV if you use HDMI or component cables.

I can't suggest a particular brand of set for your older consoles but try to find one that has S-Video as both the N64 and PS2 support it. Also look for a set that allows you to turn off all processing in some sort of Game Mode as that will reduce input lag.

Let us know what you end up getting cuz us geeky nerds live for that kind of stuff.

N64 collection discussion
I'm so envious bluedog because now you have a zoki controller to go along with that clarky creation. You've become quite an elite collector in your own right with those two masterpieces. :applause:

What are you doing RIGHT NOW?!?!

I know, but I'm being teased too. The NES N64 is awaiting a thumbstick transplant. I just greased my unused brand new OEM thumbstick I've kept stashed away for 2 years while waiting for the right moment:

Hope to perform the installation tonight... and a full reveal to follow!
