Toys R Us could file for bankruptcy
British arm of retailer Toys R Us goes into administration

LONDON (AP) - The British arm of Toys R Us went into insolvency administration Wednesday, putting 3,200 jobs at risk, as big retailers continue to feel pressure from a global shift to online sales.

Accountancy firm Moorfields said it had been appointed to oversee "an orderly wind-down" of the debt-burdened toy chain, which has 105 U.K. stores.

It said it would "make every effort to secure a buyer for all or part of the business." All stores will remain open until further notice.

Toys R Us has struggled in recent years, with its big warehouse-style stores losing business to online retailers. Its results over the crucial Christmas period were worse than expected.

The chain's American owner filed for bankruptcy protection in September and announced last month it would close up to 182 stores in the U.S.

Many British retailers are facing tough times, with inflation outstripping wage growth and a fall in the value of the pound after the country's 2016 vote to leave the European Union.

British electronics chain Maplin, which has 217 stores, also went into administration Wednesday, calling in accounting firm PwC after attempts to find a buyer failed.

Chief Executive Graham Harris said "it has not been possible to secure a solvent sale of the business and as a result we now have no alternative but to enter into an administration process."

Harris said "macro factors have been the principal challenge, not the Maplin brand or its market differentiation."

im curious to see how good or bad they are. waiting on some review. even if i dont like the layout button at all, it could be a good alternative.
This is exactly how I feel. I don't really need another N64 controller but I might get one of the Retro Fighters units if they're a quality product.

Best Buy will stop selling CDs as digital music revenue continues to grow

Best Buy is abandoning the humble CD and will no longer sell them in its stores starting on July 1st, 2018, reports Billboard. The move comes as CD sales continue to decline; revenue from digital music downloads eclipsed it back in 2014.

Target, on the other hand, says it will only sell music CDs under a consignment basis, shifting inventory risk back to the labels. That means Target would only pay labels for CDs when customers buy them, rather than buying the CDs in bulk and paying for shipments of unsold CDs back to the label for credit.

By the way, the last music CD that I actually bought was the Foo Fighters Greatest Hits back in 2009 when it was released around the holidays. I can't believe it came out almost 9 years ago!

Sin & Punishment

Though at times its hard to aim, move, jump, and dodge at the same time, you can get your brain wires crossed and look like you suck at the game to any onlookers
This is exactly what's happening to me in the training mode.

For some reason the controls in Sin & Punishment seem as challenging to me as those in Jet Force Gemini. So I'm trying to play this on the Wii and I'm wondering if controller type 3 is the best choice when using the Classic Controller Pro?

It often feels like we're all a bunch of close friends sharing our passion for the N64 and video gaming in general together. Heck, even the non-gaming threads are great. Thank you to everyone for welcoming me back and making me feel like an integral part of the N64 Forever family.

@Grizz: GREAT video. Me and the kids Love Honeycrip apples, second only to the pricey Pink Ladies from Kings. And now I understand why I've never liked Red (no so) Delicious apples.

Death of Red Delicious: Premium 'Club' Apples Are Taking Over
Premium Apples Are Taking Over

Move over, Red Delicious.

The heyday of that hardy fruit may be coming to an end as better-tasting apples like Honeycrisps grow in popularity and bring better returns to farmers. U.S. shoppers have only grown more willing to pay for premium apples, leading growers to develop new varieties and upgrade their orchards to produce more expensive fruits, Eric Rama, the head of agricultural research at MetLife Inc., said in a report.

In the past, farmers favored apples with long shelf lives to the detriment of taste. That led to the reign of the Red Delicious, the most widely produced apple for 70 years. But its production is declining now. In contrast, Honeycrisp output increased 275 percent and prices rose 41 percent from 2010 to 2017, according to the report.

The future of the apple may be in so-called “club” varieties. Supplies of these fruits are tightly controlled using patents and royalties paid per tree, which fund marketing campaigns that build the brand. Simply put, the apples taste better, and consumers are throwing their dollars that way.

This morning I had a couple of Eggland's Best scrambled eggs with a side of 2 link sausages. Not planning to eat any apples today but later my wife and I will share an emulsified vegatable and fruit drink that we'll prepare in our NutriBullet. At our age we gotta do whatever it takes to stay healthy.

The Cult of Mario Kart
Nintendo is bringing Mario Kart to smartphones :o

Nintendo has announced the latest of its IPs to make the leap to smartphones, and it's a big one: Mario Kart. An app called Mario Kart Tour is set to be released in the next financial year, meaning anywhere between April 2018 and March 2019.

No details about Mario Kart Tour have been made available other than its existence, but the Mario Kart franchise is one of Nintendo's biggest.

I'm hoping that Nintendo also has another Mario Kart offering in the works for the Switch.
