Play an N64 game...
Tonight's the last night I'll have the Wii connected to my HDTV so in celebration I played Mario Golf 64 (VC). Used the code to unlock all the characters and then beat Boo Valley to unlock Mario's Star course. Good times!

No, I play all of my games nowadays on my 40 inch Sharp Aquos LCD and I'm sure the Wii U will look absolutely glorious on it.

The only downside of boxing up the Wii is that I'll lose the ability to play my Virtual Console games (I don't want to transfer them) but that's ok because I have New Super Mario Bros. U and Luigi U to tied me over until Mario Kart 8 ships late next month.

Mario Kart 8 looks so spectacular that I'm sure the franchise's cult is going to gain a whole lot more followers when it's released.

Grizz sorry to say but there IS a MK8 bundle for USA

Also a new trailer

That's ok because I got my Wii U delivered free for just $250 with no tax. Even if I pay full price for Mario Kart 8 I'm still ahead.

The red Wii-Wheel doesn't interest me as I'll be playing MK8, and later Super Smash Bros. IV, with the Wii U Pro controller that I purchased on-line about a year ago for just 25 bucks.

So stoked for Mario Kart 8, the game looks incredible! :w00t:

My heart rate just shot through the roof. :w00t:

BTW, my Wii U just arrived yesterday although I haven't set it up yet. Can't decide if I want to put away my old Wii to make room for it.

Here's my dilemma, even though I own a Classic Controller Pro I've kinda gotten used to playing all my Wii and Virtual Console games with the GameCube controller. What to do, what to do?

Java Virus
Here's a little more information.

Serious Internet Explorer Bug Leaves Half of all Browsers Open to Hack

Java Virus
My neighbors ran the full scan of Microsoft Security Essentials and that seems to have resolved the issue.

Super Smash Bros. vs. Dairantou! Smash Bros.
I own both and the only immediately noticeable difference is the sound effects.

Competitive players say that there are substantial gameplay difference but they're very subtle to the point that casual players wouldn't notice. Remember, competitive players have this game memorized down to the individual frames.

Happy birthday wishes to Clarky.

thumbstick or joystick?
I like to call it a "thumbstick" because my browser's spell check feature tries to tell me that's not a real word.

Turok: Rage Wars
This may sound sacrilegious to the Rareware fans here but Turok Rage Wars is my favorite multi-player First-Person-Shooter (FPS) on the N64. :-8

The only other multi-player game my friends and I played more on the console was probably Mario Kart 64. Ironically and in a MK64-like twist, Turok Rage Wars also includes item blocks which for a short period of time add greater intensity to the already frenetic gameplay.

Sadly, my Turok collection doesn't include the rare grey cartridge of TRW but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it if I didn't already own the more common black one.

I've been trying F-Zero X, and getting massacred (you've lost your machine). Aw the speed though and the music love it!
It's the challenge of F-Zero X, especially at the higher difficulty levels, that keeps it relevant and playable to this day. It's the epitome of arcade style racing in that it offers just enough customization to differentiate it from something like a Mario Kart 64.

Java Virus
My neighbor acquired some weird virus on their computer when they got a pop-up asking them to update Java. They trusted Java so they went ahead and clicked the update button.

I tried doing a system restore to a previous date and it fails every time. BTW, they're using Windows 8.1, if it matters.

I also ran Malware Bytes and it seems that something is still going on although it's not as bad as it was before. I reset the browser (Internet Explorer 11) to the default settings and deleted all cookies. Further still, I went in to the programs settings and removed unknown programs that had gotten on the computer that day.

Any ideas how to address this nasty virus?

@Grizz: Welcome back!
It feels good to be back amongst friends! :w00t:

The videos of Mario Kart 8 have me giddy and I can't wait to finally play it. Looks like the franchise finally has graphics that match its magnificent gameplay. Mario Kart 8 is drop-dead gorgeous and I'll be playing this beauty at launch. Hopefully some of you will join me?

The Wii U Topic
I finally got around to ordering a Wii U from an Ebay seller who had the black 32 GB model with Super Mario U & Super Luigi U on sale for just $250 with free shipping. I got it now because I want to have it set up before Mario Kart 8 ships at the end of next month. Doesn't look like we're going to get a MK8 bundle here in the States so I pulled the trigger.

I also have a Wii LAN Adapter that I never used with my Wii that I'll probably use with the Wii U. Super Smash Bros. creator, Masahiro Sakurai , recently said that's the best way to get optimal performance when playing the fourth installment of the SSB series on-line.
