Gundam Battle Assault 2 - 2d fighter starring characters from Mobile Suit Gundam all the way to Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz and even an original mobile suit from the first game. I'm personally not a fan of the Gundam anime series but that didn't stop me from effortlessly sinking hours into this one.
I'm a big fan of mechs and also the fighting game genre in general which is probably why I like Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Duel on the SFC so much. For that reason, Gundam Battle Assault 2 looks like a game I gotta play eventually. Thanks for making me aware of it!

Yeah, the PS1 library is HUGE with a lot of duds but plenty of games that have aged amazingly well too. 2D fighters like Gundam Battle Assault 2 hardly ever get old unless they weren't very good to begin with.

Oh Photobucket
Thanks for the advice! I added SuperBlock Pro (mostly because it's free  ) to Chrome and Photobucket seems to be a little bit better now. :yeah:

Oh Photobucket
I've been using PB for years but it's gotten really bad over the last few. I'm just too lazy to start an account with another photo sharing site which is why I still keep using it.

Oh Photobucket
Photobucket is a train wreck.

What games are you playing?
There's been a recent update to CTGP Revolution that added the Crash Team Racing track Cortex Castle so that's what I've been playing. Really makes me hope that eventually a new CTR will get released on the PlayStation 4. Just 10 days until the WipEout Omega Collection gets released on the PS4, though. :w00t:

Getting my funk on with an ethereal Brothers Johnson jam from the same year that the original Star Wars was released.

Where does the time go? Who cares cuz this tune is timeless. ;)

Right Now Might be the Best Time to be Collecting for N64
With the recent proliferation of counterfeits in to the N64 collecting market, confidence has taken a serious hit. Now unless a game or peripheral can be authenticated beyond a shadow of a doubt there's a ceiling as to how high its value can go. Because of that there's little reason to believe that prices will continue to escalate to the stratospheric levels that some NeoGeo games attained, as an example. Ultimately that might dissuade would-be collectors from diving in to the N64 market in the first place. Ironically, that could make producing counterfeits less lucrative which in-turn may help stabilize the market in the end.

Oh and by the way, I've been playing all my PlayStation games with the original dog bone controller rather than with a Dual Shock. Really wanted to get that retro experience. :)

Which reminds me, I also own one of these rare and collectible Dual Analog Controllers. Maybe I should start using it instead. 8)

Because buying movies and such is both therapeutic AND an addiction, I bought two more today
How many movies do you have in your collection now? Which are your top 5 favorites?

I have a fantastic story that would make an incredible book but sadly nobody has the courage to write it. :phear:

Crash Team Racing is indeed impressive and most of all it's just plain fun. To my mind it feels more like the spiritual successor to Super Mario Kart (SNES) than Super Circuit on the GBA does.

Today I'm probably going to play Omega Boost, Hot Shots Golf and Bushido Blade while I still have the PlayStation set up. :)

Occasionally I plug in my original PlayStation rather than play its software on the PS2. I mostly do it just to make sure that it still works and partially for nostalgia. It's amazing how the PSX is a sort of time machine to a better time and place for me.

So I plugged it in and these are the games I played.

1) Armored Core: Project Phantasma
2) Street Fighter Alpha 3
3) Crash Team Racing
4) SoulBlade
5) Tekken 3

Doesn't seem like much of a stretch to say that these are all masterpieces in their own right. Surprising how well they've held up too.

I'm still trying to process this one. Its a black day for sure.
Shocking how such a talented person would feel compelled to take his own life. Ironically, every time I think of Chris Cornell I associate him with this Soundgarden song.

It's also been good for me because I'd really like to get into writing and there's a lot of inspiration here. I'd love to find a group that could motivate me to keep pressing on with it and offer constructive criticism like this.
What topic(s) do you want to write about?

I haven't read a book for pleasure in years. Sometimes I'll pick up something from the local library for research but those books are generally on depressing topics. For example, I recently read through 'The Cheating Culture: Why More Americans Are Doing Wrong to Get Ahead' on the suggestion of a friend. Really sobering book that most people would probably feel uncomfortable reading.

My wife Cathie and I saw Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson at the $2 theater the other day. It was MUCH better than the reviews would have you believe. It was an excellent primer for the cyberpunk opus Blade Runner 2049 which comes out later this year. Granted, the two films have different themes but their underlying subtext is similar in that they both deal with what it means to be human. Regardless, Ghost in the Shell is a gorgeous film that should really be seen on a large screen to be fully appreciated. :yeah:

Watcha Listenin' To?
In memory of one of my favorite grunge era singers Chris Cornell who just went to that big black hole sun in the sky. ;_;

Post your N64 Gaming Setup
@danny_galaga: Those white shelves are really nice. Where did you get them from, IKEA?

Yeah, it's really cool that so many people are still holding on to CRT TV's for their retro gaming fix. On one of the other forums I visit they even have a thread titled "CRT Fetish thread" which had nearly 780,000 views last time I checked. However, most of their discussion centers around PVM's which doesn't apply so much to the N64 since it doesn't natively output RGB.

Ultimately it's up to you where you participate, but forums are dying and never coming back. The average forum user is probably 30+ now and the younger crew has zero interest. I just wonder what the "next thing" will be, we're due for one of those every 5 years or so.
The younger crew seems to be more in to emulation on their high-end PC's or on the diminutive Raspberry Pi than they are in to collecting physical games. I think the "next thing" is already here and that's why many forums dedicated to collecting physical media are ghost towns nowadays.
