What games are you playing?
I went to visit my friend today at Gamestop and while I was there I picked up ATV Offroad Fury 3 for $5.00 to play on the PS2 that I just snagged cheap from a seller on Craig's List.

My friend also told me that now that they are taking preorders on the Wii U (price and launch not yet available) they're only giving $20 trade-in on used Wii's. He said they're giving an additional $25 trade-in on all consoles bringing the grand total up to just $45 for the Wii. :o

My friend who works at Gamestop said that the demand for 3DS' here in the States never lived up to Nintendo's expectations. Now that the PSVita has been announced and will sell for only $250 to $300 things have only gotten worse.

Grizz, you'd be surprised if you would see how much of our daily news is taken up by American issues. Your latest unemployment data is no secret to us and we are totally aware of the sub-prime mortgage issue, the debt ceiling stalemate etc etc etc. Because it is in our own interest. if Wall Street goes down, so goes Frankfurt and Amsterdam. When America sneezes, we catch a cold.

Mk II, sounds like you're better informed about our country than many Americans. Sadly our citizens aren't as aware of what's going on around the globe, and thus don't understand that like Greece we must raise taxes as well as cut spending to balance our budget. Sadder still is that we're not prepared to do either. :-/

My personal opinion is that N64 collecting is becoming quite popular here in the US because many gamers long for the nostalgia of the late 90's when our great country was still on track and all things seemed possible.

Yeah that little Toshiba is actually a fantastic video gaming TV. I've got my N64, SNES and GameCube connected to it as well.

After looking at the two jacked up controllers I think I can take them apart and make one good one out of them. I'll work on that tomorrow.

Nah, the PS2 isn't stolen; they're really not worth much anymore since they get even less software than the Wii. It's time for Sony to pull the plug on it and return PS2 backwards compatibility to the PS3.

I noticed an oldish ad on Craig's List for a fat PS2 and all the seller wanted for it was 20 dollars. I figured the thing had to be broken since it was going so cheap but I felt like taking on a project to fix it if necessary. Besides, the price was low enough that even if I couldn't fix it I could hold on to it for spare parts.

After several e-mails exchanged between me and the seller I found out that the PS2 would also come with two controllers. That made the deal even sweeter, I figured, so I went this morning to pick it up. When I got to the sellers house, which was in a kinda bad neighborhood, he told me that he didn't have the A/V cable so I couldn't test the system before I purchased it. I was a little miffed since he didn't mention this before I drove 15 miles to his house so I offered him $15. In fact, since I was afraid of being robbed in the seller's house I only brought a 20 dollar bill in with me. I left my wallet out in the car. He said he only had a 10 dollar bill for change. Since the controllers also looked pretty ragged I asked if he'd take just ten bucks for the forlorn PS2 and he agreed. Needless to say I suspected that the thing wouldn't work but felt good that I got it for just $10.

When I got home I vacuumed the caked-on dust off the vents and turned on the power to the unit without connecting it to the TV. Nothing caught fire or started to smoke so I figured it was OK to connect it to my TV and try a game in it. To my surprise the PS2 worked perfectly after I ran my disc cleaner CD through it. Both PS1 and PS2 games boot up just fine. So yeah... I got a fat PS2, two messed up controllers and a power cord for just 10 bucks. Not bad, huh? :w00t:

I posted this because it's relevant to anyone who may be interested in picking up another PS2. You see, many fantastic games including Gran Turismo 3 and Armored Core 2 allow you to link two fat PS2's together so that each player can have their own screen. Now that PS2's can be purchased for not much more than 10 to 20 dollars that's within more people's reach.

Nowadays Mario is the only sports figure I don't mind giving my hard-earned cash to. ;)

The mighty US cannot be going through austerity, surely!!!

Anyway, :yeah: to Mario!!
I've been thinking about posting a weekly update detailing the trials and tribulations of the US economy on this forum. I figure that since there are so many international gamers on this site that there might be some interest. Anywho, things are much worse here than most people outside our boarders realize. Consider that the total cost for the War on Terror alone is expected to be upwards of 3.7 trillion dollars!

Oh, I lied, I do enjoy one footy game which I play occasionally when my friend comes over. Yep it's for the Nintendo GameCube and it's called Super Mario Strikers.

The NFL players and the team owners are currently in dispute as the US economy is in freefall and the old rules no longer apply. Just like Greece we're going through our own austerity measures.

Every time I go on craigslist there are an outrageous amount of 3ds'es being sold. It just seems weird to buy one and sell it a t a lower price.
I've heard rumors that the screen gets scratched and that's why people sell them so soon. Seems there's some issue with the way the thing closes that causes the problem.

I don't have one yet but if I wanted to buy one I'd probably wait for the price drop and redesign.

It may come as big shock to our American friends but 99% of Europeans think American Football is one of the dullest sports in the world. We dont watch it on TV and we certainly dont want to play it on our consoles.
Most of us in the US feel the same about soccer. :-8

In fact, I used to own a CIB copy of International Superstar Soccer 64 but I traded it away.

What Rare Items are in Your N64 Collection?
Not sure if the Shindou (Rumble Pak supported) version of Wave Race 64 is rare but I own it complete too.

Mine is pretty pitiful:

-the legend of zelda: ocarina of time
-banjo-kazooie
-mario kart 64
Tiggers hunny hunt (from when i was young lol)
-mario golf
-mario tennis
-pokemon stadium 2
-mario party 2
-super smash bros
-star fox 64 CIB
-super mario 64 CIB
-perfect dark CIB, factory sealed
This is an excellent multiplayer collection with some notable singleplayer games; nothing pitiful at all about it. Basically you've got a fantastic core group of N64 titles in your library.

Welcome aboard and please share pictures of your games, peripherals or gaming setup whenever possible.

Controller discussion
Yeah I put a GelTabz on my purple and black hybrid controller because the replacement thumbstick uses very hard plastic.

What kind of vehicle do you drive?

Im a mustang guy and my daily is a 85 GT. Just has the usuals (exhaust, cam, gears, filter etc) but its getting a built 347 with a blower eventually.
I've always liked the look of the 85 Mustang GT and yours looks especially nice with the aftermarket wheels. Yours is also in very good shape looking like it just needs a paint job to make it as good as new. Also, some clear plexiglass covers on the headlights would probably make it look even more modern.

What Rare Items are in Your N64 Collection?
I guess my rarest cartridges are Clayfighter: The Sculptor's Cut, Bomberman 64: The Second Attack! and maybe a complete in box Last Legion UX.

Hi There
Hello and welcome.

Please share with us which games you're playing on your N64.

What games are you playing?
Today I played 1080 Avalanche on my Wii (it's actually a GameCube game) just so I could listen to the music. :P

N64 Game Soundtracks
Maybe it's because most modern dance music sucks but this tune still sounds AWESOME!

N64 Game Soundtracks
At the beginning of this year's E3 presentation Nintendo showed how well they understand the importance of music in video games. Of course full-blown orchestral scores have become as ubiquitous in Nintendo games as they are in Star Wars movies, but Nintendo also appreciates the finer nuisances of the music played while doing relatively minor things like opening a treasure chest or clearing a stage. I suspect most of us LOVE Nintendo because of this attention to detail and their incredible commitment to elevating video games to an art form.

Collecting Question
So the 3DS version of Ocarina of Time is getting positive reviews and some are even calling it the definitive version. I don't know... I believe that many people will still want to play the original version with the N64 controller so I suspect pricing for this game may see a bit of a rise. Thoughts?

N64's main genre
N64 is the best

I was wondering what you all think the n64's main genre is. I know sports is kind of a given, but other than that I think there is an abundance of racing games on the N64. :n64:
Yeah I think the N64 has a lot of racing games and it's actually home to a few of my all time favorites. F-Zero X and Wave Race 64 are both amazing even by today's standards. Mario Kart 64 while not technically a pure racing game does have racing intentions. When you factor in other notables like Extreme G, Diddy Kong Racing, Beetle Adventure Racing and F-1 World Grand Prix you've got a console that's very heavily represented in the racing genre.
