King of Pro Baseball

so funny... when i had one on offer nobody wanted it.
Now everyone really really wants this game but what are the odds of me coming across a third copy in my lifetime?
Yes it's very funny because the game never really gets very good reviews. It's not that uncommon as there are several on Ebay but to me that game isn't worth any more than $5.

ive got two carry-all bags for the Gamecube but they're both unlicensed from Thrustmaster (purple) and Piranha (black). The purple bag was part of a Harry Potter themed line of accessories but i removed those silly badges. we dont need no stinkin' badges! :D
What interested me about this carrying case is that it's an official Nintendo product.

It's hard to tell from my photo but there's even a slit at the top which allows the GameCube handle to stick out for easy carrying. Pretty nice product and I guess somewhat rare since I've never seen one before.

Grizz do you want to flog or trade one of those LAN adapters?
Ive got plenty of Cubes and two copies of MKDD! and would love to play some head-to-head sessions.

I would probably trade one of the Broadband Adapters for a copy King of Pro Baseball.

MK:DD!! is fun in LAN mode but its not as comprehensive as Mario Kart Wii just so you know.

Why do you have so many doubles?
Well... I own 3 copies of F-Zero GX because it's a masterpiece. For that reason I have one mint condition copy (which only gets played in my Wii) and a rough somewhat scratched copy that I use to test the laser on GameCubes that I come by. Since the data is so densely packed on that disc it's a great tool for determining if a GameCube has a laser that needs adjusting. :D

I have two copies of Melee because one pictured is still factory sealed.

They're not shown in the original picture but I have 4 copies of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! because I use that game when I do a LAN setup. See photo below.

BTW, I now own 9 GameCube Broadband Adapters. :-8

Yeah I'm crazy like that in that I'll drive to the ends of the Earth to pick up an item that catches my fancy. Besides, that GameCube carrying case is really nice and I've never seen one before. They're not even that common on Ebay.

I'll use the case when I go up to the Washington, DC area to stay with my best friend for a week. I figure we'll play tons of Mario Kart: Double Dash, F-Zero GX and Melee in the evenings when he gets home from work. :D

Yesterday I got this official GameCube carrying case for the grand sum of $5.

A guy on Craig's List said he sold his GameCube so he didn't need this case anymore. I'd never seen one of these so I was eager to pick it up although I had to drive all the way to the other side of town to get it. Probably cost me as much in gas as it did to purchase but I don't mind because this case is very nice. :w00t:

What games are you playing?
Still playing Goldeneye 007 on my Wii as the on-line mode is quite brilliant. I also downloaded Street Fighter III: Third Strike On-line Edition this last week off of XBLA. It's much harder to play than Super Street Fighter IV so I wouldn't suggest purchasing it unless you're A) a Street Fighter fanatic or B) you're prepared to commit yourself completely to training nonstop until you're expert level. I've been playing Street Fighter games for 16 years and I still get owned most of the time. :o

anyone here playing Dead Or Alive Dimensions (3DS) ???
Nope.

Right now I'm playing Goldeneye 007 on-line; hit me up if you want to exchange friend codes. I'm always up for some Mario Kart Wii or Brawl, too.

That Conker plush is adorable!

Blade Runner II ?
The original Blade Runner is from a time before summer blockbusters so hopefully it will transcend the pitfalls associated with that marketing ploy.

There are several iterations of Blade Runner but I still prefer the original theatrical release because of the overdub which helps explain things a bit. It also helps immerse the viewer in that 1940's detective movie feel.

As far as sequels go I actually like The Empire Strike Back almost as much as the original Star Wars: A New Hope. Same goes with The Matrix Reloaded which in many ways is deeper than The Matrix. Then there's Aliens, directed by James Cameron, which I actually enjoy more than Alien which ironically enough was directed by Ridley Scott.

A sequel? i still havent figured out the first one...
The original is a success on so many different levels. Some consider it a simple action film while others see it as a love story. Nonetheless, Blade Runner has a devout cult following here in the United States because of the deep implications surrounding the morality of creating synthetic life.

Cool New Thumbsticks??

i bought 3 of these and they are good but they are sub par when it comes to smash bros. the timing for smash attacks is different on these sticks then they are on normal ones
That's my biggest complaint with the new third-party thumbsticks too. I love playing Super Smash Bros. and with the new sticks smash attacks are much more difficult to pull off.

Blade Runner II ?
I'm hearing rumblings that Ridley Scott has finally secured the rights to do another Blade Runner movie. No one is sure if it'll be a prequel or sequel although I've heard that it can't be a remake, although that's not confirmed as fact as far as I know.

To say that I'm excited is to put it mildly as the original Blade Runner ranks right up there with the original Terminator and Highlander in its creativity. Just like those other two films Blade Runner has some flaws but none that have kept it from attaining cult status.

There are many reasons to like the original Blade Runner ranging from its artsy dystopic vision of a future Los Angeles to the brilliant acting by Rutger Hauer who literally stole the show. The movie is thick with atmosphere blending the grittiness of the 1940's detective noir genre with science fantasy and amazing lighting not seen anywhere shy of high-end fashion shoots of the era.

What I always liked best about Blade Runner is the way it dealt with the concept of intellect defining our humanity. You see, the main character Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) is a manufactured life form designed as a "combat model" hence he is imbued with supreme mental capacity. Although the film never outright says so we get the sense that his intelligence has been granted to give him advantages when fighting corporate directed wars on battlefields outside Earth. That's all pretty standard sci-fi fare but what really sets this theme apart is the way Ridley Scott allowed Rutger Hauer to explore the role. Not since Daniel Keyes' touching novel Flowers for Algernon, which was later adapted in to the movie Charly, have we seen or felt the level of compassion that Roy Batty evokes in this scene which feels like it was written by an equally gifted descendant of William Shakespeare, but was actually somewhat improvised by Rutger himself:

Quote: "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain." ;_;

In the end the uber-human Roy Batty proves himself to be the better man by pardoning his would-be executioner Deckard played by Harrison Ford. I can't wait for the sequel!

Very nice!

New redesign for the Wii
It probably would be a smart marketing strategy to release the new redesigned Wii with a special game that will upscale to 1080p and unlock additional gameplay modes when played on the Wii U. By doing this Nintendo would incentivize the purchase of both systems even to people who may already own the current backwards compatible Wii. At the very least Nintendo should offer the new system in a different color to make it stand out as being unique.

I don't really see the point of this.
Neither do I as I already have my Wii lying flat rather than vertical.

I'm sure it's like MK II mentioned with respect to a lower price point given the savings from removing the GameCube related hardware.
