Well, I honestly don't know how popular this thread will be... since I'm guessing that if someone's interested in winning something off eBay, he/she generally wouldn't want MORE people to see the auction (and raise the bid)... am I right? And I was gonna limit this to N64 auctions, but then I really saw no reason to. It could have a N64 focus, I guess. ANYWAYS... I thought I'd post some things I've found (probably stuff that wouldn't really interest you unless you're a collector, but whatever)... just incase any of you are interested. It's mostly imports (anything to get you all into importing), but also some of those SuperPad controllers I had reviewed. One seller has recently listed a bunch of great/rare imports, including: Tetris 64 悪魔城ドラキュラ黙示録外伝:Legend of Cornell (orig. JP version of Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness... which I feel is even more rare to come by than the US release) バーチャルプロレス2:王道継承 (Virtual Pro Wrestling 2: Royal Successor) 電車でGO!64 (GO by Train! 64... A crappy, but pretty rare game IMO, esp. complete with VRS microphone & controller... all boxed) SimCity 2000 (which I've basically never seen on eBay before) どうぶつの森(Animal Forest) 爆裂無敵バンガイオー (Bangai-o) 罪と罰:地球の継承者(Sin & Punishment: Successor to the Earth) Another seller's got two big-name snazzy-condition imports for sale, although I get a slightly sketchball vibe here... I remember the previous auctions he refers to (with the same, or nearly the same pictures), but I don't see why he would need to be under a different eBay member name. I dunno, just a little caveat I thought I'd throw out there. 爆裂無敵バンガイオー(Bangai-o) 罪と罰:地球の継承者(Sin & Punishment: Successor to the Earth) And for some controllers: 2-pronged SuperPad 64 (Buy it Now! for US$6.99) 2-pronged SuperPad 64 Plus (Plus version has the marginally-useless turbo/slo-mo features) 3-pronged SuperPad 64 (Buy it Now!... although there's cheaper ones out there, for sure) |

Just found this tonight... thought it was a pretty interesting/unique color combo... even though whoever did it had to take apart a perfectly nice cool blue (JP only?) console (which I'm assuming they did, since it's modded to play all NTSC games). I think I'd almost prefer the solid blue instead, though. <_< ... but I don't really recall there being a "solid blue" console... maybe the blue parts were taken from a Pokémon console? Alxbly'll know I s'pose... he's the colored console KING.
Also, a cart-only copy of Sin & Punishment is being sold for US$25 Buy it Now! right now. It's in Japan, but depending on where you're at and what kind of shipping you'd prefer, it'll be an additional $2-$17. Still though... pretty cheap for the sought-after import title it is. |

I'm almost positive the blue bits have been resprayed. The blue parts can't be from either of the Pokemon editions because: In the stadium edition all those parts are yellow except the expansion bay cover. In the Pikachu edition the casing is extended to fit in the sculpted Pikachu, therefore the bottom part of the casing is too small. The switches are different too, the power switch is a Pokeball and the reset button is Pikachu's foot. And the blue color is too light and shiny. Shame, if you're gonna respray then why not use a classy color: gunmetal, silver or... well... something tasteful.

Now what the ****'s wrong with blue??!?!
I'd actually prefer something a little less... shiny.Anyways, back on topic... ... just found THIS on eBay... any takers?? (b/c I know it won't be available for long!!) Apparently it's brand new... I'd only get it to re-sell it, and since I've already got more than one (one of them being exactly what's being sold), and also since it's beyond my personal "recommended purchase price," I figured that rather than being a Hori-hordin'-hypocrite (okay, that was lame), it would be better to let you guys have a chance at it, so you can find out how horribly overrated this controller is.

Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-o (avail. for "Buy it Now") Sin & Punishment (avail. for "Buy it Now"... and for pretty cheap!) Sin & Punishment (~7 days left, with a US$5 starting bid... no one's bid just yet) Densha de GO! 64 controller (boxed & avail. for "Buy it Now"... not as stupidly expensive as it often is for such a mildly stupid game) Animal Forest (avail. for "Buy it Now") Wonder Project J2 (avail. for "Buy it Now"... but I think you can find it for much less if you wait) Hori N64 Controller (brand new & STILL avail. for "Buy it Now") N64 Import Adapter (brand new & avail. for "Buy it Now") |

So I found this strange auction on eBay. The guy just calls it "Japanese Chess." Floorcat, can you translate what the box says in the picture? |

^ The game is called "Saikyou Haniu Shogi", and it was one of the three Japanese launch games for the N64. If you're interested Play Asia have brand new copies for sale, and there's also a photo of the back of the box in that link. As for the gameplay... ??? |

Yeah... the box says pretty much what alxbly wrote. I think Play-Asia got it wrong and that the title is "officially" Saikyou Habu Shogi... which is simply a different reading for two of the characters, but refers to the last name of the stud-muffin on the cover. (The only reason I know is because his name's written in English right next to the logo. FYI, "saikyou" basically means "strongest.") According to (what I can make of) the white vertical text on the left, he's the 7-time champion of "true" shogi. I never knew this was one of the launch games for Japan, though!
I'd say, if you're into playing something like chess on your N64 (and have the patience to figure out the foreign rules), you might just enjoy it. If you want my opinion though... there's like 5,000 Shogi & Mahjong N64 games, all of which never made it out of Japan, and I absolutely don't lament this fact.

So... we've got a clear blue JP N64 console, 100% complete in box in apparently really good condition... "Buy it Now" (with "Make Offer" option!) for US$99 with $38 shipping. Not a bad deal. (cheaper than Play-Asia, I believe) If I remember correctly, I bought something off this seller once before, and had absolutely NO complaints whatsoever. If I had a spare 140, I'd buy it. <_< |

Perhaps not so much so others might be interested in purchasing, but maybe more for those of you collecting pictures of and/or building resources for N64 consoles (*ahem* Mop/alxbly)... I've found some auctions with pretty decent pictures of those goofy JP pikachu edition N64s... here and here (just a pic of the box). Y'know... blue & yellow don't look half bad together... |

Is that true? Both your copies don't have Blockbuster stickers, and alxbly's doesn't either, and my (future) copy doesn't. I guess it could be a coincidence, but still... As for Paper Mario, I was thinking more like that could be your retirement found. Just think of what it'll be worth in 70 years... |

That must be what, nearly every SNES game released in Europe? And most with boxes and instructions? I think you should go for it alxbly! And that guy selling the PS3 pre-order is hilarious... I hope nobody falls for that one. I realize this thread isn't called "Funny/Interesting stuff you found on eBay", but... I've never seen this before. [link removed] Now the auction's already ended, but... Was this actually released, or is it just something someone created to scam people? *hopes it's real* |

Yikes... good thing you prepared me for that one! Didn't stop me from crapping my pants though.
AGREED. Do it alxbly!! You'll be like, SNES KING in one fell swoop!! Then you could build that tower you've always wanted to climb.
I certainly do. They we can all laugh at his/her lack of... well, intelligence for one.
Not to worry there Mop... yes, it was actually released... or at least I've seen/heard of it before. I think it was one of those super-special deluxe pre-orders or something, but I'm not 100% sure. If I recall correctly, the pill-box was filled with jelly beans (kinda glad they're gone, otherwise you'd be tempted, and probably get some "mad" disease as a result), and (this is a 70% guess) that empty slot was maybe for one of those old-school-ish ice packs or something. Let us know what's on that VHS... I'm curious!

Alright, great, thanks. I kind of thought it was missing something because of that slot, but I just had to go for it... if only in morbid curiousity to see what's on that VHS tape. (Maybe even I'll copy it and send it to every one of youse guys!) I was also suspicious because I've seen that game sell for $20 cartridge-only, so I'd have thought something like this would go for more. Now I do already have the game, but, although it's in good cosmetic condition, it doesn't work very well. I suspect the previous owner cleaned it improperly. |

Are you guys crazy? That auction costs 9,200 pounds *curses the lack of pound signs on N64 Forever*. That's over $17,000!!! I don't have that much cash. I don't have any cash actually, at least, not any morel... Mop, I'd never seen that ltd edition Conker before, good catch. That Custom Robo looks good too, you should get it. I'd get it myself if I hadn't just bought a... Can't believe the cheek of some ebay sellers. That Zelda cart is a good example: terrible condition, improperly described, it's a ******* disgrace! The fool! Luckily, if you know what you're doing, you can avoid idiot sellers like that. So, this thing I bought. It's a [EDITED DUE TO EXTREME COOLNESS]. So there you go. Nothing to do with N64, but infinitely cool... |

Have YOU played it? $30 is a bit steep to jump right into something I know little about. I guess I'll check out some reviews on GameFAQs or something before I decide one way or the other. And I'm still debating whether I should finish my US collection before I get any imports... it's a tough decision! |

... and here's IGN's review of it... incase you're interested. I can see where you're coming from Mop... from spending no more than $10 on any given game and also not having any kind of experience with imports... so I can understand perfectly if you end up not getting it. But believe me... $30 (you can have it shipped for $24.99) is REALLY cheap as far as (upper-tier) imports go, esp. if it's coming from Japan. (As is USUALLY the case,) I haven't played much of this game at all... but it seems the only thing you'll really be missing out on (after a little patience) if you don't have any kind of Japanese skills is the story/plot etc. Maybe niniendowarrior can be a little more helpful as far as gameplay is concerned?? Come to think of it... my copy of Custom Robo might've even come from this very same seller! (I know I've bought stuff from him a while back)
Hypocrite. <_< ... and forget about the money... just think about THE TOWER.

Custom Robo... I played it for quite a bit... like two sittings or something. As far as I can draw... the game is cut up into two aspects. One overarching story, and the actual battle. The story is told in a more 'competition' matter. About 'bringing your custom robos' and pitting them with other players, much akin to games like Pokemon. You can customize the settings and parts of your Robo. When you go to a table and challenge your opponent, that's when the actual combat ensues. The combat, from what I can remember resembles the chaotic nature of games like Smash Brothers and a little dab of Virtua On. It's just mayhem. I remember your robo starts boxed like a dice... roll it right and your robo can unfold easier. Then just kill the opponent. Sorry I cannot provide more than that. It's a crazy title and the language barrier... I think is quite immense. |
